I receive this shot the day after chemo. My 1st shot I received, about 3 days later, I came down with flu like symptoms and extreme bone pain in my legs. I didn't correlate these symptoms with this shot and I almost had my husband take me to the hospital because I thought my kidneys were failing due to the rapid break up of my tumors from chemotherapy. I stuck it out for 3 days before I went to my Oncologist and told her what was going on. She shot me up with some pain medication and put a bag of fluids in me. The next day, I felt better. A week later, I received my chemo and went in for the day after shot. Within 24 hours, I came down with a fever, pounding headache, and the pain in my legs returned. I finally put it together that its side effects from this udenyca shot. It's been 5 days since receiving this shot, and I'm finally starting to feel better. I am on the patch w/ dilaudid. It makes the leg pain bearable but does nothing for the fevers, headaches or flu like symptoms. On the 2nd day of fever, chills, headaches and body aches, I finally took some advil. I'm not supposed to due to my kidneys but I couldn't take feeling like that. The advil worked so much better then the opiates. While these side effects are miserable, it's not enough for me to quit taking the shot. I have had labs done 1 week after chemo, and both times, my white blood cell count remains high. This is my 2nd attempt at cancer, and the first time, I didn't receive these shots, and my count was always dangerously low. With any drug, side effects are always there, you just have to determine if the pros outweigh the cons. For me, the cons I can live with as the pros keep my WBC count high so I don't have to go to the hospital. Read More Read Less
