Was on regular Nuvaring for about 8 years. Then got switched to this. It works well as birth control. Doesn’t stay in as well as Nuvaring.

Until I read all these negative reviews I thought I was going crazy. I used to take NuvaRing and it never caused me any issues. I quit BC for a while and got on this before my wedding. Over the past year now, I have gotten facial acne (which I’ve NEVER had!), have gained 10-20lbs, lack libido, and have noticed I feel bad/sad way more often than I used to. I’ve almost thought about seeking out medication or going to therapy. I had no idea others also say this ring causes these symptoms. I’ve stopped this month and I’m so thankful. My skin is already clearing up so much! And I just feel lighter and happier mentally. Quite honestly, I don’t think I’ll ever take BC again after this experience. I’ve always been regular and track my cycles. I will plan naturally from here on out. This ring was literally destroying me. Read More Read Less

Insurance forced me to switch to the generic for two months after almost 15 years on nuvaring without issue and it was the worst experience ever. My hormones were completely disrupted leading to massive mood swings, depression & dark thoughts, endless crying jags & I put on 10 lbs of hormonal belly fat (not where I historically gained weight) that I still haven’t been able to drop almost a year later. No way this is identical to the brand name, it should be taken off the market.

I used this birth control for about a year and a half. I wish I would have stopped sooner. If you suspect negative side effects are happening, I would encourage you to trust your gut!! Overall, the nuvaring was easy to use and was effective. The first 6 months I didn't notice much except for my breast size going up. However, after about a year, I very slowly gained weight, my stomach was constantly bloated and in uncomfortable pain. I think it also increased my appetite, I could NEVER skip a meal. Nearly 6 months since stopping EluRring, my stomach issues have gone away, I'm not constantly hungry, and I'm down at least 10 pounds - still going down. It took a toll on my body and I'm never putting up with it again.Read More Read Less

I have used several different brands of birth control pills with lots of side effects (sore, tender breasts, mood swings, spotting, increased appetite, weight gain). I then tried Mirena for almost two years. The ease of getting it and not having to worry about it was nice, as wel as not having a period was great, but unfortunately I had horrible headaches, migraines, couldn’t eat or drink certain foods without throwing up. I had been deathly afraid of vaginal rings due to a friend in college who had a sister who died of a blood clot in her 30s who had the nuvaring. She was overweight and smoked, so that’s also a risk factor. I’ve been on Eluryng for over a year and happy to say it’s worked well for me. I do have occasional spotting, but I haven’t gotten pregnant and don’t feel I have any side effects at all. I see a lot of negative reviews, most about having issues with the generic. I have been prescribed the generic since the beginning so I really have nothing to compare the eluryng to.Read More Read Less

i have never done good on any birthcontrol so i gave up. after 15 years my dr continuously told me birthcontrol will fix my irregular cycles and all of my anxiety/hormones etc. i have been on eluryng for a year now and have had major side effects, migraines that dont go away with otc meds, emotional to no end. ive never had so many anger and emotional outbursts, very depressed, very tired but cant sleep through the night. i am always miserable and dont want to do anything. i am now realizing after a year i wasnt the only one that felt crazy, it is in fact the eluryng.Read More Read Less

I was so excited to try the ring because of how easy and mindless it is. I was automatically switched to Eluryng instead of Nuvaring which I thought would be okay....it wasn't. Within the first week of having it in, I begun experiencing extreme anxiety and depression. It became dangerous for myself to take it and so I stopped after 2 weeks. I couldn't keep it in for the entire time I was supposed to. Once I took it out, my mental health improved drastically.

I made the switch from the birth control pill Estarylla after having some pretty nasty side effects. I had been taking Sprintec for years without any issue, but my insurance decided to switch me to Estarylla. I couldn't handle the side effects so I requested to switch the ring hoping it would give me some relief. My doctor prescribed NuvaRing, however, the pharmacist handed me EluRyng when I went to pick up my prescription. I wish I had read the reviews before trying this medication. I've been bleeding for 2 months straight with painful cramping. I felt nauseous, had migraines, and horrible enough mood swings that I felt like I was going insane. I wish I was hyperbolizing when I tell you how awful the depressive episodes were. Not to mention, it killed any remaining sex drive I had as well as made everything extremely tender and painful (which kind of defeated the point of birth control for me). I decided to quit hormonal birth control entirely because of this in order to give my body a break. EluRyng needs to be taken off the market.Read More Read Less

I was on the Nuvaring for over a decade. It worked wonders for me. No side effects at all, it even helped my PMDD. When they made the generic version, like many others, I was forced to switch or pay full price out of pocket. I tried to stick it out with this, I really did. But it sucked so much, I was miserable; depressed, gaining weight, fog brained. I hated it. I stopped using this in September of 2019 and never looked back. This was so bad it made me forego hormonal birth control forever. If you've never tried Nuvaring and they're trying to prescribe this version of it to you, try a pill instead! LoEstrin fe was the only pill I ever liked as much as Nuvaring.Read More Read Less

This has been very good for me. I was worried to use hormones because I was afraid I would have bad reactions but I have actually felt more normal work the eluryng. I often felt disconnected but now I feel like I am more connected to situations around me. The ring stays in for me and I have had no pains or problems. My favorite for of birth control yet.

I was forced to switch to this because my insurance would no longer cover NuvaRing which I had used, happily, for 14 years. Within the first month of starting Eluryng, I started getting debilitating menstrual cramps. I was on the floor crying. It some of the worst pain I've ever had as an adult.

I fully feel like I've become depressed off of this birth control. I was on the NuvaRing to begin with, but then insurance didn't cover it so switched to this. I'm stopping to find a better bc that doesn't make me cry all the time and have panic attacks. Highly do not recommend this it ruined my mental health.

Used this since the brand was no longer covered on my insurance. I am religious about when I take my ring out and putting the new one in. Turns out I’m pregnant, even though I used this exactly how you’re supposed to.

My insurance wouldn’t cover the nuva ring any longer so I switched over the eluryng. Had the worst worst migraines, would bawl my eyes out at any inconvenience, and my skin broke out.

I am sharing my story in detail in the hopes it can help someone. I felt like I was losing my mind and if you feel that way to, you are not alone! Back in August 2021 I missed my period for the first time. Between August-November I was experiencing extreme depression (I didn't leave my bed for almost 2 months) along with anxiety that I thought was contributing to my previously diagnosed GERD that was breaking through even with Pepcid. I am also diagnosed bipolar with generalized anxiety and taking 3 medications for it at this time as well as going to therapy so I was trying to manage it all thinking this was why I felt this way. I was always nauseas and vomiting consistently. I went to a doctor who was very unhelpful, but eventually got my period again in December 2021, but the day it came back was awful. I was bedridden and unable to move. The pain in my back and legs made moving and walking difficult and my flow was very heavy. This only lasted the first day but was notable. Cut to Feb 2022, my nausea and vomiting did not go away but the depression and anxiety got a bit better during this period. I was getting my period regularly again. I eventually start vomiting blood and an endoscopy finds ulcers and a hiatal hernia. All related to GERD and stress but I couldn't figure out why my body was having such a stress response. I start taking Lansoprazole which helps with the acid but still feeling nauseas and I'm still vomiting. In April 2022, I miss my period again and the psychiatric symptoms are out of control. At this point, my pysch meds weren't effective because I couldn't keep them down due to the vomiting and was wondering if they were the cause of all this as well. I think I was experiencing the worst of it this time. I lost my appetite, lacked focus, difficulty sleeping, reduced motivation, mood swings, short temper, excessive stress, shedding hair, constipation, paranoia/anxiety, weight issues, stiff neck/shoulders, ringing in ears & sound sensitivity. I went to the gynecologist who thought my irregular periods were related to long term birth control use and ordered an ultra sound where they found a cyst. I was taking BC since 2005 for ovarian cysts so this was unusual and set me in a panic since my case of ovarian cysts was very serious. She also recommended I check my thyroid so I went to an Endocrinologist who did find I have Hashimoto's Disease but my levels were normal meaning it wasn't active and it would not explain my symptoms. I was at a loss and not sure what to do next, but I knew something wasn't right and this was more than my mental health issues so I went to an infectious disease doctor thinking by a long shot a case of Lyme Disease I had as a child might have come back. This doctor after hearing my complete history came to the conclusion that it was all related to psychiatric trauma. I lost it. I am years sober, have been to rehabs and many kinds of therapies and I knew in my bones this was more than that. Eventually I get a call from a different gynecologist who asked me if I recently switched to the generic form of Nuvaring. I then realized that at some point it did change, but the pharmacist, insurance company and doctor did not tell me or flag it so I thought nothing of it. I then looked back and realized they changed me to generic filled end of July 2021, right when all of this started happening. That led me to googling the generic drug and finding all of these terrible stories. I do not understand how this drug is on the market. It's a shame that health insurance companies feel they have the medical prowess to change medications that have such a negative impact on women's lives and it seems like it's on a very large scale. And the fact that we live in a world where men can't even handle a birth control STUDY based on these types of symptoms saddens me. Something needs to be done, because this simply is not ok! I am currently battling with health insurance to get the name brand but have stopped Read More Read Less

I have had terrible side effects from this ring. The worst side effects are severe, painful bloating. I also have headaches and feel tired all the time. I did not complete a full month of using this ring and discontinued today after about 2 weeks. This isn’t what my body should have to go through.

I was on nuvaring years ago and had no issues. Recently, I got back on birth control. I asked for nuvaring again, and didn’t even realize there was a generic until I got my prescription from the pharmacy. Even my gyno didn’t know. I gave it a try for a month because it was free and it just wasn’t for me. It didn’t stay in well for the first week. After that I was physically fine. I didn’t have breakthrough bleeding or any of those things. However, I had terrible moodswings and became depressed. Then, the week I took it out I felt better. The next time I specifically asked my pharmacy for Nuvaring on a hunch. I’ve been on nuvaring 1.5 months now. My moods are healthy and I have no issues. Something is different with Eluryng and I’m not taking it again. Read More Read Less

Was on nuvaring 12 years and due to insurance had to switch this this generic brand, it has been terrible. Excessive migraines, weight gain, bloated consistently, unable to lose weight, periods are unpredictable, periods come late, and blood pressure increased. I never had any of these issues with Nuvaring, not to mention lack of libido.

I was on Nuvaring for 12 years and I absolutely loved it! It was perfect! My hormones were perfectly balanced, I bled for maybe 3 days a month, barely and my period was clockwork, to the hour. I had to switch to Eluryng due to a change in insurance and I WANT TO DIE. It has only been 3-4 months and I HATE IT. My head feels like it's going to explode all the time. I'm so emotional I feel like I need antipsychotics for the mood swings. The worst part is knowing that your hormones are the reason you feel like a walking shell of a human and being told that the medication is the same.. you know your body than your most likely male doctor does. If you can prevent switching from Nuvaring to the Eluryng DO IT! I don't care what anyone says, they are not the same. 100% not the same.Read More Read Less

Easy to use and haven’t gotten pregnant, so I guess in that area it’s doing its job… other than that I’m not too pleased since switching from Nuva ring to this generic brand. Breaking out more than before, more cramping during my period, a bit moodier and nauseous daily. It’s been almost 6 months since switching and I would’ve thought the symptoms would’ve subsided by now. Only reasoned I switched is because I could get this brand mailed to my house and I wouldn’t have to go to the pharmacy every month like before. I’m switching back and dealing with monthly pharmacy trips to get rid of these symptoms.Read More Read Less
