I've had post-viral syndrome for 9 months and migraines came with it. I am having 4 sinus migraines a day and Topomax and Fioricet just made it worse. Baclofen was a horror as I could not function at all, and I'm already on Effexor, which doesn't help, either. I was hoping with Nurcet being a new drug, that it would be some type of breakthrough. Judging from the other reviews it apparently helps...

I have about 2 headaches per week and a migraine every 2-3 weeks. I’ve had these headaches for years and usually take Excedrin, but Excedrin doesn’t work for my migraines. I only take Nurtec when I have a migraine and it is hands down amazing and effective for me. My migraine symptoms are gone within a half hour and stay gone. I don’t know how to describe it but I can still feel something “going on” in my head, but I don’t feel pain or nausea, and I can fully function. I highly recommend trying it for classic migraine headaches.Read More Read Less

I have 24/7 migraines as part of an inner carotid artery dissection and pseudo aneurysm. My docs wanted me to take Nurtec to see if I could get some relief. So the positive stuff first: * the package is reasonably easy to open * the melt doesn’t taste bad or leave much of a funky aftertaste * it REALLY helps SOME people The cons (for me): * the price is about $1200/ 8 tabs * I had ZERO improvement with any symptoms * it increased my nausea to the point that I would actually throw up * I have belly PAIN not discomfort but pain for 24-36 hours after taking it * my headaches actually get worse once the meds are on board This is truly one of those that is a miracle or not and no real in between. I started getting migraines after a concussion and this has been a lifesaver for me. I take it as soon as I feel a headache coming on, rest a bit and then I can go about my day.

I have suffered from severe , debilitating headaches most of my life ! I have been on pain meds for a long time and they helped for a little while and then didn’t help much anymore ! I’d be in such pain , I couldn’t ever make plans , because I’d never would know how bad my headaches would be , I would lay in bed all day because of my migraines and could barely function ! This was no life for me ! I never knew what to do , I always thought pain meds would be my cure but unfortunately wasn’t ! I saw a commercial recently about nurtec , and truthfully I thought it was a joke , bc if my pain meds weren’t helping me , how could this med help me ! But I thought I’d try it , because I was so desperate! The first dose I took of nurtec , I didn’t have a headache all day , I thought well I guess this is just a good day for me ? I continued to take nurtec , and every since I took it I never had any more headaches ! I thought to myself this is too good to be true , nurtec has honestly been my miracle to getting rid of my debilitating headaches for most of my life , that I’ve been hoping and praying for my whole life ! I’m still in shock and disbelief, all I can say is the truth that nurtec has changed my life for the better and has been my miracle medication that I have been wanting , and never thought I’d ever be able to live a normal life because of my debilitating headaches ! So I wanted to share my story because , I want others to know , if they suffer from migraines ,and can’t find ways to help get rid of theirs , like I did on a daily basis , that nurtec has changed my life infor the better ! I couldn’t be any more grateful for choosing this medicine!! Read More Read Less

I got 4-5 headaches a week lasting for 9-12 hours. Started taking Neurtec and they went down to once a week. Then started taking Neurtec as a preventative med and now get 2-3 headaches a month. So greatful!

This rx has a very expensive co pay! There is no assistance. Think twice before using h are looking at on average 15/tablet. There are alternate Jed’s for less than a dollar. Maybe celebrity endorsement let’s this rx be sold at near unreachable prices.

This expensive medicine is a fake and false advertisement. Doesn’t work at all it’s a junk medicine better to stay with Tylenol or Ibuprofen.

Nothing that I’ve tried in the past helped but Nurtec finally did. It changed my life and helped me get back to work, my family and activities I love. It might not be the right option for everyone because of other underlying conditions people have but definitely worth giving a shot.

For me, Nurtec is the only thing that works when I’m getting a migraine. When I take it as soon as I have an aura, it ensures that pain never happens. Unfortunately, it is cost prohibitive ($700 a month) and won’t be generic until maybe 2033. The only time I can get it is from free samples from my doctor. There are plans offered for reduced costs, but only if you have commercial insurance. If you are on Medicare or are uninsured, you get no discounts. Seems very unfair. Old people get migraines, too.Read More Read Less

My new MD wanted to wean me off sumatriptan 50mg. I was given two-8 pill sample boxes of Nurtec with instructions to take one pill every other day. I keep a record on my calendar when l have a headache, use ice, and what l take, Imitrex or Excedrin Migraine, and the time of day I have to take a med. I took the full course of 16 pills over 32 days with no relief. On 24 days I had to take a rescue med the day following a Nurtec dose. I felt like the Nurtec gave me rebound headaches right from the start. I just read all the reviews for Ubrelvy, and will give it a try too. Nurtec is not a solution for me. Good luck in your search for relief.Read More Read Less

After living with chronic migraines since the age of thirteen (I am now going on 34 years young) my doctor gave me samples of this medication to try over the weekend for debilitating migraines. When I tell you it instantly worked, I could not believe the pressure in my head went away, I wasn't sensitive to light & noise...I didn't have to sleep it off or crawl in the bed and I surprisingly haven't had another migraine this entire weekend. I'm still in shock & cannot wait to see how much more I can achieve in life without battling migraines. I didn't have to live like this for so long!Read More Read Less

Extreme nausea. So much nausea that I had to miss a lot of work and being with my kids. I could not do anything. Right after I took the medication, it felt like I was having a heart attack. I am no stranger to taking Triptans and this felt 100% worse. I was afraid that I was going to have to call 911. The most disheartening was that the medication did not even take away my migraines. I have chronic migraines that I will have every 8 hours without medications. This is not a preventative medication at all. It may be a medication to take an the onset of a headache. I did not try that because I did not want to die by taking too much. The side effects lasted over a month after I stopped the medication. Terrible side effects. Read More Read Less

I have had migrane headaches since my time in the Marines (1990s). I had a concussion or two back then a a couple more since. Plus many exposures to AFFF (PFAS) which were terrible for causing headaches & shortness of breath. Imitrex, Fioracet, T3, all had varying degrees of minimal effects from none to just taking the edge off. Two fioracet seemed about the best. My neurologist asked me to try Nurtec. So far I'm 1 out of 5 for any good results. It takes the edge off & that's about it. Throbbing is less but my head is always ringing & movements make it throb worse. Read More Read Less

I started on nurtec about 2 years ago, before it really had any noted side effects. I’m usually a side effect person. If I see a bunch of side effects I’m not doing it. There was none really other than maybe stomach pain. I took it when I needed it and sometimes it helped sometimes it didn’t, I think it depended on what type of migraine I was having. It was an ok option until 3 days ago. 4 days ago I hit my head which trigged my migraine. I tried taking Tylenol or naproxen first and they failed me. So I broke out the nurtec. I haven’t been on any migraine med for a year due to getting pregnant and breast feeding but honestly my migraines haven’t been bad, until I hit my head. 3 days ago I took it. Fine. Kind of worked no side effects, the next day I took another because the migraine was still there. That night I had the worst nightmare of my life. To waking up that day with a full blown anxiety attack, hot, sweaty shaking.. to almost having a psychotic breakdown. I didn’t feel like myself. I was shakey, nervous, terrible thoughts… to the point where I couldn’t take care of my kids or myself I just wanted to sleep and have the day be over my mind was getting the best of me. I slept from 7pm-7am and woke up ok. I’m still nervous and shakey but not close to being so bad like yesterday. I’m seeing my therapist today because of all this. Idk if this is because I was previously dealing with very small PPD or what but wow. I never ever felt that bad after taking it before pregnancy. Maybe it’s because now I have an underlying condition and it triggered something. Who knows. My advice to you, if you have anxiety, depression or are dealing with anything like that, lack of sleep even. I wouldn’t take it. There’s not much knowledge on this and it’s side effects. I really would try other options. I’m 33 years old and pretty much a healthy female besides this. I’m also following up with the neurologist this Friday to try to find other options. I had no other reason to sign up for WebMD other than to write a this review for Nurtec ODT oral. It seems the effectiveness of this drug is all over the map. Some patients even claim that it makes them feel worse, which is an awful thing when you're dealing with migraines. I'm 63, healthy, fit, strong, work full time and have no medical issues. Migraines invaded me about 10 years ago. They just started. It's as simple as that. Initially, I was concerned about brain tumors and so on. After two MRI's this was ruled out and I became a migraine sufferer. I'm lucky, some of these migraine stories are heartbreaking, and if you do NOT suffer from these, PLEASE have compassion for these people. Mine come about once a week which is actually bearable. They start at the left base of my skull and over a period of hours, usually 4-8, become more intense until it feels like a screwdriver has been driven through my left ear. 15 on a scale of 1-10. All I can do is wait, and eventually the pain passed. Repeat 7 days later. Doctors were clueless throwing useless medications at me. I finally ended up seeing a sleep/migraine specialist who strongly recommended I try Nurtec. I was skeptical. I told her "nothing works". She said, "what have you got to lose?". She gave me a free sample and on the next migraine I took the dissolvable tablet with no expectations. It was an absolute miracle. After 15 minutes I could actually feel the pain starting to melt. At one hour, totally pain free. No joke. Plus, my health insurance covers it. If you're at your wits end with migraines, at MINIMUM, try this. It actually has a relatively low success rate but it works fantastic for me. No side effects whatsoever. Read More Read Less

I recently started working with a neuro in a headache clinic. I will be starting botox treatments in several weeks. In the meantime, my dr wanted me to wean myself off Excedrine because of the bounce back affect. He gave me samples of Nurtec to try. After my first dose, on a pain scale of 1-10, I quickly went to 30. I was nearly incoherent, and when walking I was bouncing off the walls. My dr asked that I give another try, so I did today. Again, the same thing happened. Within 6 hours I was unsteady on my feet and couldn't function. Both times, Excedrine was my go to saviour. I am very aware of the bounce back affect, so I'm cautious about how often I take it. Hopefully the botox treatments will allow me to wean off Excedrine. Read More Read Less
