This oral contraceptive makes sex dry for me. I was on taytulla then switched to gemmily. I started having sex after I switched. The sex I’ve had is usually uncomfortable due to friction even when generously using lube.

I was not on birth control for years and got prescribed gemmily to help with PMDD I was experiencing around my time of the month. Within 2 days of being on Gemmily I started to experience intense nausea at night - my mouth would water like I was about to throw up and I was very dizzy. I experienced extreme highs and lows with suicidal thoughts and made extreme decisions like wanting to end a relationship, cancel trips, and quit a job. Luckily I’m in therapy and was able to realize I needed to stop this birth control immediately. I was only on it for a week but that was enough to experience this all for me. I also immediately got my period after stopping the next day and it was very painful and heavy unlike my usual flow. Read More Read Less

I started taking this birth control three years ago when I got into a steady relationship. My cycles completely stopped which has been extremely nice but very painful when it did happen. Recently had my first cycle in three years and it was extremely rough but with the benefit of not having one hardly ever the past 3 years that's a 10 out of 10 for me. If you are starting your birth control journey (not switching) and start here I think it's wonderful.

I came here because my insurance stopped covering Taytulla. This is NOT even close. Taytulla had my skin glowing (I had acne problems) my sex drive was up and my excruciating cramps gone. The only downside was I was prone to more yeast infections. Fast forward to taking Gemmily, it’s been a nightmare, my hair is falling out, my skin is dry and is not glowing, and my periods aren’t excruciating but I still get too much pain and it should have been stopped by now. I absolutely hate this bc and am switching to another one. I have also just started spotting much more, usually in the morning, and I randomly get mild cramps through the month. And my sex drive is NON EXISTING. I have become so dry and the desire to have sex is extremely low. This is the worst bc I’ve ever been on. I have beautiful thick hair and I have never had this much hair loss, I have been in tears h tth is last week. Read More Read Less

I started off on Taytulla and insurance switched me over to the generi (I didn’t experience any changes during the switch). Because of my PCOS, birth control and I do NOT mix at all due to uncontrollable weight gain, excessive periods, and moody side effects. I have not experienced ANY of these side effects and I have been on this pill for 5 years. My skin is clearer, my ultrasounds look amazing, I am even losing the stubborn weight I had been stuck with. My cycles even completely stopped. I personally have not experienced any vaginal dryness or changes to my libido. The dosage is so small but it has really impacted me in such a positive way. I truly recommend. Read More Read Less

It was AWFUL!!! TMI but I got really dry down there, like it hurt to wipe when I peed dry. I got really snappy with my boyfriend and felt really bad about it. I got extremely depressed and took that out on myself. Felt IMMEDIATELY better after I stopped taking it. It’s not worth it to take it when you want to die the whole time.

Was taking Taytulla for a year and a half and it was pretty good. My health insurance could not cover it anymore and started to give me the generic brand, Gemmily in December of 2020. I gave it months to settle but I still have emotional rollercoasters from it. Is it effective against pregnancy? Yes! But, it is not even close to Taytulla. They have the same active ingredients but the inactive ingredients are where the downfall is. Overall my mood swings became terrible and I did gain weight/bloated on this pill.Read More Read Less

If you are looking for this medicine to take place of brand name Taytulla, this is not it. If you have never taken Taytulla, you might like it. This medicine fell short of its name brand sister, Taytulla. Although, same/similar ingredients, this did not work for me and left me wanting my name brand back.
