I had a fungus on my nail and my doctor prescribed me this topical solution. I started seeing results after 3 months when I could see my regular nail grow and not the fungus. I applied this solution every night and let it dry before getting into bed. It took my nail about 6 - 8 months for the fungus to be completely gone. I also used the topical solution on my toenail and it took about 6 month...

This was prescribed by my dermatologist. I have been using this religiously every night for about 2 years. Still have fungus. Nails are still yellowish. Not brittle but after two years results are very poor.

Summary: Definitely worth a shot. CPX can work well on stubborn infections, but takes many months to start seeing results and won't clear all infections. I've had toenail fungus for many years, but was told by past doctors that there wasn't any safe option to try to treat it. A few years ago, it had started spreading from just one big toe to seven (yes, seven) toenails! I've tried all the at-home remedies -- tea tree oil, vapo-rub, mouthwash soaks, and vinegar soaks. Six months ago my new doctor put me on CPX. As others say here, she emphasized that you must be diligent about applying it daily and taking it off with alcohol weekly. Daily regimen: paint a layer on all infected nails. Let dry for at least 10 minutes before putting on clean socks. Every time you take off your shoes, spray ithe insides with an anti-fungal shoe spray or just something like lysol (two nurses told me this). Removing it weekly: Once a week, rub off as much lacquer as you can with rubbing alcohol and a cotton pad (I use cut up old t-shirts). It's sticky and stubborn to try to get it off -- soaking your feet in hot water first can help. Either before or after removal, you'll need to soak your feet in hot water for 5-10 minutes to clip your nails. Then, very carefully, use salon nail tools to scrape off the rest of the CPX, cut your nails back as much as possible, and scrape out as much gunk as you can. Then use a clean nail file to file down the surface of infected nails, wipe away the dust, and then apply the lacquer. Clean all your tools. Something like these: https://www.ulta.com/p/nip-em-neat-cuticle-nipper-12-jaw-xlsImpprod3120765?sku=2228028 So after 6 months, I have seen some progress. Enough to stick with it, but not where I hoped it'd be. One of my big toes looks waaaay better -- spotty but almost the normal color. The other big toenail is still thick and yellow but seems to have healthy growth at the base. One small toe is completely healed, and another one nearly is. But there are three other small toenails (the two pinkies, and a middle) that look like day 1. No change. Super thick and yellow and all-around gross. I'm not sure what people are saying about the cost...my insurance brings this down to a couple bucks per two-pack. I'd say the results have been worth the hassle!Read More Read Less

I started with nail fungus about a year ago it was so painful the skin around my nail would split and bleed and my nail beds were bright red. My Dr prescribed this medication for me and I went to work mine are turning around in a very short with what I've been doing once a week I take it off and soak my nails in warm water I take and finger nail clippers and my nails as short as I can and buff them as thin as I can without causing a problem and then those affected badly nails I would get nail clippers and dig out the fungus from under the nail bed carefully and then file them so they were smooth on the edges when I was done I washed my hands really good with a nail brush dry them then reapply the medication on my nails all around the nail bed and especially the tip of the nail and back on my cuticle where you push it back so its completely sealed and do the same thing every single night. I put everything I use nail slippers, files, buffers and cuticle pusher in the dishwasher to sanitize them. The main thing is every night after you bathe apply it and once a week take it off and clean off the weeks worth on medication and then reapply. Mine are doing great my Dr can't believe how well there doing I'm hoping it won't be long before I'm back to normal and putting color nail polish back on. The "secret is diligence" do not let it have a second to grow back. You also have to be so careful where you have a manicure/ pedicure many use filthy tools you are better off buying your own and having them use them instead of there's they just aren't sanitary in a nail places. I'm a cosmetologist and made the mistake of believing they were as clean as I was. If you do it as I am doing you will see results immediately its diligence your fighting a really aggressive fungus if it can end up in a few nails pretty fast its aggressive and you have to treat it as such. My nail beds are going back to normal they were thick and bumpy it was starting to misshape the nail beds not anymore everything is going back to normal. In so grateful for this medication. Good luck everyone hope this helped. Read More Read Less

I used it for 1 nail on my big toe that had fungus. Started 1 month after I noticed the fungus. Prescribed by my dermatologist who said it worked for only 1/3 of the people who used it. I used it really regularly at night before I went to bed as they suggested. Removed the built up layers with alcohol cotton ball every seven days. It took a while to see that it was working and I wasn’t completely sure till the nail had grown out. I used 1 1/2 bottles. But, it worked and my fungus hasn’t come back so far (it’s been 3-4 mos). Very happy as it was easy to use, had no side effects, and it was effective.Read More Read Less

I've used just about every topical anti-fungal out in the market these days, and to no avail. But this stuff really works. Right from day one. I have had my nails trimmed professionally and then maintain them in between visits, as it is important to remove the old nail as it grows out and to debride the top of the nail. This process is a great reminder of how important our feet are in providing us with mobility, so I used the few minutes spent in this process reflecting on how my feet give me the ability to walk and enjoy life. It's only been 10 days, so 47.5 more weeks to go in the projected timeline for improvement, but I am looking forward to having fungus free feet.Read More Read Less

Only 3rd day using this. Redness of toe now much improved and nail looks way better!! Looking at many of the reviews it seems like most use this medication once a day. My wife is applying it twice a day. Maybe that’s why immediate improvement. Also we were told you can’t miss even one day or you’ll have to start all over. Keeping my fingers crossed.

This works well but you have to file the fungus off before applying. Then keep filing. Get a Dremel if you have too. This lacquer makes the fungus soft so you can file it off easier. I got my toenail removed and used this lacquer. My toenail grew back beautifully (a year and a half later) but stopped using the lacquer too soon and it came back. It works, it's a lot of work though.

Have been using for toe nail fungus along with scraping, filing, soaking and seen only few results mostly from filing, soaking in epson salts. Have been using nail gel for 5 months no visible results from polish only from other treatments but will continue using.

Worse than worthless. Very frustrating to remove (clear coating so status unknown) and did nothing. Final solution was "Evagloss Repair Pen".

I have been using Ciclopirox on my two toe nails for over 6 months now and I have not seen any improvement at all. For such an expensive topical lotion you would think it would work. Very disappointed in spending some $78 for two 6 g bottles. There has to be something better. But WHAT?

After 3 months about 70% of big toenail is clear. Per podiatrist, I will continue for 90 days after nail is 100% clear. According to podiatrist, Ciclopirox works for 35%-50% of patients. Removal of infected and/or crumbly nail that has detached itself is important throughout entir treatment period.

Tried for more than half a year. No effect at all. Nail still infected. Would highly recommend switching to terbinafine/Lamisil. Yes it has more side effects, but for the sake of time, money, and effectiveness, it is better from any aspect.

Over the counter fungal creams like ciclopirox nail polishes are generally ineffective for clearing nail fungus. Ciclopirox (Penlac is the brand name) is a topical nail polish used for the treatment of mild to moderate nail fungus. It just doesn’t work very well resulting in cure only 7% of the time.

10 months of use and the fungus still persists. At one point months ago it seemed to be working, was almost gone, then the fungus came back with a vengeance. If you read the research, this product has a very low cure rate. Not recommended.
