I have been on Zonisamide for almost 2 years. It was prescribed for athritis and sciatica. The arthur is completely gone and I rarely have sciatic pain. I never have headaches any more and I have lost almost 40 pounds while taking it. Love that. There have been no bad side effects that have changed my life style. I love Zonisamide. It has given me my life back.

After having been on numerous other treatments that didn't work for seizures, I am happy to finally be taking something that seems to be working with additional benefits as well. I am very pleased with this medication.

Main purpose-Migraines. Only been taking for 4 weeks. Tried many medications over numerous years. So far I have had only one...that's a change from about 3 a week. I have lost a couple of pounds-always a plus. And to those complaining about being tired or feeling ill --I have a sleep disorder. Take it at night. That solves both. Helps with sleeping and you want feel bad when you're sleeping. I have actually cut back on my sleeping aid. I will post after several months with more progress. Good Luck!Read More Read Less

I am taking this for migraines. I am on 25mg twice a day, which is a fairly low dose from what I understand but I can already tell a difference in my migraines. Not only have I had fewer (I was having 3-4 a week) but my headaches are taking longer to turn into migraines. They stay at just annoyance for much longer and sometimes even go away before getting worse. I'm still increasing the dose and hope I will get even better results. I was on Topamax for a week and though my headaches went completely away, the side effects were too much to deal with. This is a great similar drug that seems to have way fewer side effects.Read More Read Less

I have began taking 400 mg Zonegran daily about 10 years ago. After two or three years my insurance switched me onto Zonisimide (I noticed mental cloudiness). We dropped to 200 mg w/o issue. Since then, the worst I have experienced was a little indigestion. I am very curious about effects of long term use, since I'm only 31 and it has worked so well so far.

I was put on zonisamide for migraines. I have tried all the other medications to no avail but this one has really not helped either for the pain from the migraine. It also has made me more forgetful in memory, loss for words while talking, feeling like in a fog constantly, tripping while walking, the weight loss was nice but I would rather be a little heavy than not feeling like I can't function day to day. I have another appt with neurologist.

I was put on zonisamide a week ago because I have not been successful with other AED's. I have catamenial siezures and I am also going through perimenepause which has caused my siezures to increase in severity. I took my first 100mg of zonisamide last Tuesday evening and I am still experienceing muscle tremmers, sensation of burining lips and discordination. I have not taken any more of this drug; is this a normal side effect?

I use it for nerve damage and back pain. Very few minor side effects. My doctor wants me off of this med because I have been on it for 12 years and makes my life comfortable. I love zonegran better because generics are not the same.

I have been on this mesication for four months. It has worked great for the purpose it was intended for. I have experienced dry mouth, weight loss, loss of appetite, mild headaches, and constipation (which if I take fiber and drink plenty of water daily is not a problem at all.).

Medication helps a little but adverse effects will probably make me stop using it. I have swollen lower extremities like ankles, thighs, calves. It is hard enough to walk with the back pain. Have surgery coming up and I think I will stop using it cause I'm down to 2 pairs of pants that fit. The swelling is horrible.
