I have my 4 shots of Vaccines, 3 Modernas and one Pfizer, with the last one being merely a month ago. I began feeling some cold symptoms last Wednesday but the home test kit showed a negative for Covid. Thursday felt worse, with more intense headache and fever. I tested again and got positive. Both Wed and Thu nights, my throat felt itchy and I did not sleep well. Friday morning saw a family do...

Kidney transplant recipient. Experienced body aches, low fever, mild/non-productive cough, and fatigue. Prescribed Paxlovid on testing positive for COVID-19. The morning after the first dose I experience the metallic taste but body aches seemed better. The taste caused loss of appetite and I was nauseated. By the second dose, I began vomiting. I could not hold down anything. I stopped after day t...

I started this medicine on day 4 and on day 5 my my Covid symptoms were a little more tolerable, as I had felt like I couldn’t breath which caused me to stay up pacing all night. An hour after the first dose, the medicine created a very bad taste in my mouth that felt like it was constantly dripping down the back of my throat. It made me nauseated, I got a yeast infection, bloated, gassy, and bad guts. I’ve had trouble eating now cause I feel like I’m going to vomit. I’ve tried sucking on mints to help rid the taste but it only masks it for a few and then it’s back to that overbearing metallic, soapy taste in my mouth. My tongue is also somewhat raw and feels bumpy and sore. I have two more doses left and I’m dreading taking them. I don’t want to quit as I have an autoimmune disorder and fear getting worse. I never want to experience this medicine again. Read More Read Less

I only experienced a slight metallic taste but since I’m used to eating very bitter foods (including the rind, pith, and seeds of citrus fruits), it didn’t bother me. Like others mentioned, the taste was worse during the night but my symptoms went away quickly….especially the horrible headache. I’m on Day 4 and while I really only have a slight congested feeling, my throat feels weak like I’ve been talking non-stop for several hours which is weird because coughing was not one of my symptoms. And I also feel lethargic in general. I started my course on day 2.5 of my symptoms. One thing the nurse told me was to make sure I eat a LOT before taking this stuff to mitigate any nausea and stomach upset. So I make sure that I do have a substantial meal within a short time of taking it. My daughter couldn’t tolerate the metallic taste and gave up after 1 day. Thankfully, her symptoms cleared within a few days and she tested negative on her 5th day of Covid. My husband also took the drugs very successfully and had restored energy in a couple of days and negative tests after the 5 day course. He didn’t complain about the bad taste. Read More Read Less

I started on the medication within 48 hours of becoming symptomatic and 24 hours of confirmed Covid positive test. On the morning after my third dose I woke up feeling a world better. Though I did experience within several hours after my first dose extreme nausea and vomiting I learned that I needed to eat some thing prior to taking the dose every 12 hours. I did get a metallic taste in my mouth within an hour after each dose that lasted anywhere from 3 to 6 hours. Chewing cinnamon gum, Sucking on cinnamon hard candies, and drinking plain black tea with a cinnamon stick in it helped relieve the metallic taste in my mouth. On day three I did have severe diarrhea, and on day four a little residual loose bowels. But I don’t feel this is any different than any other antiviral or antibiotic that you take. I feel that the side effects outweigh the benefits of this medication.Read More Read Less

I called my doctor immediately after testing positive with a home kit. The nurse called me back within the hour and called in a prescription for Paxlovid. I started the medication in the afternoon and managed to squeeze in a second dose before bedtime. By the next morning my temperature had returned to normal and I felt much better. I experienced no rebound but I did have mild upper respiratory symptoms for about 5 days. The associated unpleasant taste was very mild. Considering that I spent 4 days in the hospital with my first infection before the vaccine was available, I would call Paxlovid a game changer. Read More Read Less

I had a collapsed lung a couple months ago and was in icu for two weeks, so obviously was freaked out when tested positive. Called my dr and they sent this to my house. The bitter taste is extremely terrible. Vomiting a lot and sever nausea. I did 2 days worth and stopping. I haven’t felt better, I’ve felt worse. And seeing the rebound effect… not worth it. I pray I don’t get worse long run but being sicker with a weak body already doesn’t seem safe.

I had lost my sense of smell 6 months ago. I Took the med for positive CoVid and within 24 I felt better and I could smell again. Amazing Had the same bad taste in my mouth. But felt better in 24.hours cough and nasal congestion gone. Still tired but was so happy to have my smell. It’s been 3 weeks and I noted today my sense of smell is gone again. I’m bummed I had hope the antiviral was the answer.

My Covid symptoms were light to begin with: fatigue and headache. Being immunosuppressed, I was given paxlovid due to Humira for Crohn's disease. Within 14 hours, I had a horrible skin rash and slight tightening in my throat, along with that bad taste (gum helped). I had to go to ER. They took me off Paxlovid and gave me antihistamines and lotion for the rash. Now I'm worried about regular Covid plus the paxlovid rebound effect. I wish I'd never taken it.

I forgot to mention the bad taste in mouth never goes away but it’s worth it . I’d rather have the taste then possibly die of covid. My cough was scary before I took the medicine. This stuff literally got me through the week with normal housework, taking care of kids, making meals ect. I’ve had covid before and last time I was in bed 15 days! I give it a 4 cuz the bad taste and now congestion is back and I finished the last dose this morning

Worked amazing . After 1st dose I saw an extreme difference. Nearly all my symptoms went away which include headache, scary cough, itchy skin ,soar throat. I had my last dose this morning and it’s time for my next dose except that’s it. Only 10 doses and I feel congestion coming back. What now? I’m scared . I hope it’s minor congestion that doesn’t turn to severe.

Three doses in taking paxlovid after 5 days of high moderate Covid symptoms that were not seeming to improve. Productive, thick cough, severe sore throat, runny/congested nose all resolved. I can take a deep breath without a coughing fit that hurts my chest. The metallic taste is pretty disgusting, but is better as I continue to push fluids. Still tired, but finally on the upswing. Strongly suggest taking a pro/prebiotic and taking with food.

Terrible medication. I was a healthy 63 yr old with a sensitive stomach. Do not take this medicine! First night I got light headed. I took 7 of the 10 doses and should have thrown it away after the first dose! Terrible side effects. Terrible.

Bitter taste in mouth lingers the entire time. Every person I know who has taken this has the same problem. I’m concerned that their trials said only 5% experienced bad taste when it seems to be much higher. If this basic statistic is wrong, I’m concerned about the other statistics that might be more concerning.

Though hesitated at first, I am thankful for Paxlovid. It is day three of my treatment and all major symptoms are virtually gone, except for a marked reduction in overall strength. The major side effect so far is the metal taste. It was worse yesterday morning, but now it is barely noticeable. To anyone out there: if you should get COVID, ask your doctor for this medicine... no doubt!

I am fully vaccinated and had the first strain of COVID which was horrible! I felt like I was dying! This time it started with a sore throat and headache and I didn’t test positive until 4 days of having symptoms. Dr gave me Paxlovid which has helped clear up the symptoms quickly, but the bitter taste it leaves in the back of my throat is driving me crazy! It’s like when you’re trying to swallow a pill and it gets stuck and you have an aftertaste of the pill. But this doesn’t go away!!! This awful taste stays with you the entire time and gets worse with each dose. It’s making me nauseous. I know the pills aren’t sitting in my mouth long so how is this taste staying in the back of my throat? It’s so horrible! Now, 3 days in and the diarrhea has started. I’ve got two more days of this misery!Read More Read Less

Paxlovid was a life saver for me. I took the meds on a full stomach. Always with a carb (pasta, bread) and I had no stomach issues. Usually, most meds affect my stomach so taking on full stomach was key for me.

Paxlovid was a game changer for me. I'm fully vaccinated 53 year old female. Day 2 of Covid I had fever, furious cough, major sinus congestion, started taking Paxlovid on 3rd day and all symptoms cleared up within a day. Even so, it took me 12 days to be fully well. I was really sick. My xray showed clear lungs on day 9. Without Paxlovid I think I was headed for pneumonia. I would definitely take again. Only side effects was slight metallic taste and vinegar smelled like ammonia. Big deal, I'll take those side effects any day. I took the Paxlovid for renal patients (it's a lower dose). It was actually my boyfriends prescription but he didn't need it. Good thing we had it in the house and I started taking it as soon as I did. Thank you Paxlovid! Covid is scary.Read More Read Less

This is a life-saving medicine for me. I had a horrible experience with COVID starting on 7/10. The fever started at the night of 10th and went out of control for another 2 and half days. Finally called my doctor in at 5:30 pm on 7/12 and he got me the drug within an hour (he is my angle!). I took the drug immediately, and after the 2nd dose in the morning, the fever went away. Thanks to Pfizer and all the researchers working on the drug. You are all my heroes.

Started Paxlovid day 2 of symptoms. It helped alleviate my symptoms each day. I had cough, sore throat, body aches and low grade fever. I am on day 4 and have not had any ill affects. I’d say I’m about 80% back.

I ate some rice to combat the sour taste in my mouth and it completely helped. So far I’m only on day 2 if this medication and my energy is great. I still have a sick feeling from the virus but glad I’m not on deaths door. To the guy that bragged he threw his away because it was experimental, um dude why take the energy to pick it up, why not deny it and someone else can use it ??
