I was prescribed IV Cefuroxime for tick borne infections and it was extremely effective. As soon as I had my first infusion I developed a sore throat and swollen glands from the spirochetes and bacteria dying off. Otherwise no bad side effects. Iâ??m still in treatment but Iâ??m coughing a lot less and things are improving for me overall. I have to infuse it twice a day.

My intravenous infusions were recommended for four weeks. I have a history of Panic Attacks, and one afternoon, about twenty minutes after having taken the drug, my muscles started contracting, involuntarily, like stretching after a nap. I then became very cold, shaking and twitching, then catching my breath seemed impossible. I called 911, and everyone concluded that it was a Panic Attack, but ...

I then became very cold, shaking and twitching, then catching my breath seemed impossible. I called 911, and everyone concluded that it was a Panic Attack, but I think it was a reaction to the Cefuroxime, especially since the very same thing happened the next morning. It was more body oriented and lasted longer than most Panic Attacks and was followed by a very high fever 102. I had to return home without seeing anyone in the Emergency room, as I would have been stranded in a dangerous section of Houston, and my doctor hasn't called me back. Neddless to say, I have stopped the infusions and have not experienced another epsisode of my "hypochodriacal" panic attack.Read More Read Less
