Symptoms of menopause curtailed, such as hot flashes, night sweats, dryness, etc. as others have noted. Mentally, emotionally = greatest impact on quality of life. Increased my energy, mental state, ability to concentrate and focus, giving me more energy, too. A big difference. Highly recommend. No downside for me. I am 54 and have taken 3 years.

I have only taken for eight days so I realize that's not long enough to really tell but I am not going to wait. No improvement in night sweats and may even be worse. More irritable and not happy. Will try something from the health food store. Not worth the risk of cancer and other side effects to me.

I have been on Activella for over 2 years. I have had NO problems, I instantly got releif from my HOT FLASHES. I have gained about 10 lbs since starting - but, I can not say it is related directly to the medication... I am 51 years old - can not expect to look like i did when i was 31 years old... no i don't go to a gym... i do walk... I am enjoying my medication without any flashes... Life is good.. :)

I have been taking it for three weeks now. Hot flashes are mostly gone from 20+ a day! I have a leg cramp once in awhile and my memory seems to be slightly worse than before, but I can live with that moreso than the hot flashes. I've also noticed I start to feel a little "funny" when I'm late in taking my dose! Except for these minor side affects, everything has gone extremely well so far. I'm hoping it continues! I may consider visiting my doctor every six months or so to make sure I continue to stay healthy. Read More Read Less

I started taking this 16 years ago because I was having hot flashes due to menopause at 45. I recently stopped taking it to see if I actually still needed it. I am having hot flashes and anxiety but they are still mild so I will try to stay off it for at least another month to see if they go away on their own. I just don't want to take any prescription meds for anything if I can help it.

I started on this 2 years ago but overcoming the side effects weren't easy. Digestion was affected, ravenous appetite, no libido, hair falling out in clumps and 1 month into treatment I had to start antideppressants because of 3-4 hours of depression every day. Flashes and sweats had stopped by then. Also put on 7kilograms extra weight and blood pressure went high. Now I'm coming off it and once again going through a hard time but I've heard things will get better in about 6 months. Just hope it will!Read More Read Less

I have been working on my weight for the last year, and because of the stage of my life, 63 years, it has been a very slow process. NOW, I began th4e generic Activella 7 days ago, and have currently gained 6 pounds!!!! The only thing I have done differently in a year is beginning this medication!!! I WILL be getting off of it today after speaking with my doctor. P.S. I asked him if I would gain weight on this med. and he said he didn't think so, so I may also be looking for a different doctor considering the other reviews where almost everyone has gained weight.Read More Read Less

I've been on the generic for 4 1/2 yrs due to hysterectomy when I was 43. I've lost hair, gained weight, water retention, issues with angrier, depression. Hot flashes and night sweats are gone, but side effects seem worse than regular menopause. Plus dr. Added progesterone to the mix, now side effects are worse than ever. Have been trying for over a year now to get within normal blood limits , really not doing well. Dr. Stopped listening to side effect problems as well. Think I'll try herbal.

I started this medication almost 5 months ago. I am 48 and had some symptoms of peri menopause, hot flashes, anxiety and other mild symptoms. My doctor offered me the low dose generic version--I can tell a major difference in things I had not imagined. I will talk about the good things, but first let me say, initially, I did gain 5-7 lbs. I could feel it in my belly and just tight pants etc--but I kept up on my exercise and tried to limit the "junk" and I lost the 7 lbs and my clothes returned to normal. I almost considered stopping the medication due to this weight issue, BUT I am glad I didn't! The good things are, no hot flashes, increased libido, breasts are different, don't ask me how exactly, just better. No anxiety, my skin is not dry anymore, my hair is looking more like the hair of my youth. I have more energy and my overall sense of well being is through the roof! I will not stop taking this medication. I love it!Read More Read Less

I have been on this medicine for almost 1 month. The first 3 weeks seemed like my life had completely turned around. No more night sweats, no more feeling like I was going crazy. But for the last week I have been have severe panic attacks/anxiety. I don't know if it's from the activella or what? Please has anyone else had this happen to them?

Activella has taken away the night sweats completely. I was on .5 but having terrible problems with fuzzy thinking and focusing. My dr. increased the meds to 1 mg and it helped immensely with my thinking, HOWEVER the weight gain in just 2 months is significant. I can no longer zip my pants! Is anyone else experiencing this weight gain with Activellla? Susan

I have only been taken this drug for 5 days now but what a difference it has made.... I had extreme pain/burning in the lower vagina area, I could hardly stand to sit down. All I wanted to do was lie down or take a warm bath. I am 50 years old. 5'4 116lbs. no children, my GYN suggested this dosage for me 1.0/.05mg . I was in exteme pain.. I could live with the night sweats but I could not live with the vagina pain. I was pleasantly surprised that my pain started to diminish after 1 dose and continued decreasing until no pain on day 5... I am so relieved and so happy, I feel like myself again... and I have the extra bonus of no night sweats and a great night sleep... I would definitely recommend it.Read More Read Less

I started taking this in my late 40s when I started having hot flashes. I took it for several years until my OBGYN told me I should try weaning off. I took a pill every other day and then every 3 days. Finally I decided to go cold turkey. After a couple months, I have hot flashes all the time, I am a raving lunatic emotion-wise, I fly off the handle at anything, my joints hurt (I just turned 53), I was diagnosed with a repetitive stress injury and osteo arthritis. The last three days I have had terrible anger and frustration, mostly my husband gets it, today it was someone who came to the door. I am taking it again. I never had any adverse side effects.Read More Read Less

I have been taking Activella for 5 or 6 years and love it. Before I had hot flashes then cold chills off and on all night. Couldn't sleep which I think made me irritable foggy headed and I ached all over. I had head aches 3 and 4 days at a time. My OBGYN put me on Activella and I was a new person. I have tried the generic twice because of cost. $20 is better then a $50 co-pay.It didn't work at all all the old symptoms came back. Now my insurance may not cover prescription drugs until the copay is met so it could cost me $167.99 per pack. I'll still pay for the real thing!!!! Read More Read Less

went on this medication post menpoausal for 17 months. Helped with sleep and mood. However was not able to loose weight and felt bloated. Been off the medication now for 30 days some hot flashes and mood has come back. In trial studies women complained of "arm pain" which I now have and it's quite severe. Has anyone else expereinced this type of pain?

Been on for 3 weeks, and am miserable. Night sweats are still awful, and now I am sleeping even worse because of anxiety. Nausea is horrible, and have lost weight. So nervous, and feel so much worse. Have gone off today.

The risks of breast cancer were not fully explained. I have been diagnosed with breast cancer and the only thing I have to indicate any risk is taking estrogen. There is no history in my family, however there was ovarian cancer. I should have never been prescribed this drug.

I have taken this drug for probably close to 10 years. For the last few months began not feeling well. Lots of anxiety and some minor hot flashes at night. Went into dr for anxiety and had blood test done showing my body was no longer absorbing the estrogen. My level were as low as without any hormone treatment. Just curious if anyone else has experienced this.
