drops have lowered my eye pressure, grew longer lashes, on the down side have recently had severe dryness in nasal passages, moved to mouth and now my throat, wonder if this medication is responsible? Any others with this side effect?

After the first use, my eyes were red and blood shot. Looked like I had been on a bender. Did not help any with pressure

I was diagnosed with Glaucoma a four weeks ago. My Eye doctor put me on Lumigan. My eyes got very red, itchy and hurt, then the headaches started severe headaches. I went to the ER and the drops were causing this plus I had what was called Allergic Conjunctivitis from the eye drops in both eyes. The ER doctor ran some tests. He told me to go off the drops and the headaches were migraines from the eye drops. I was at the point were I was suffering for days. My eye doctor put me on Combigan now after three doses the headaches are back. Six days with no drops, my eyes cleared up and no more headaches.. Makes me wonder. I'm getting a second opinion as soon as I can. How can drops help with these terrible side effects? I had none of this going on before starting these eyes drops.I'm too weary now to try any more of these kind of eye drops.I don't want to go blind. But there has to be something better.Read More Read Less

I use both Lumigan and Azopt and my pressure has come down from 40 to 15. Lumigan once a day at bedtime and Azopt twice a day. There was slight burning and blurring until I got used to it. There are no problems now and I just hope it continues to work.

I have been using Lumigan for about 6 months. It still stings when I put the drops in. discussed this with my eye dr. Then....my right eye started to turn cloudy and blurry. Also now have hair growing around my eyes. Eye Dr. not concerned. said it is cataracts that were not there six months ago. Time for a new Dr???? eye pressure did go down but at the cost of my sight...Not impressed.

I don't like the redness under my eyes. Seems the puffiness under my eyes is increasing after using drops for many years. I would love to be able to reverse the under eye redness but will probably always have to just cover it with concealers.

I can live with the redness and irritation, but my main concern is the burning sensation in my upper chest. It does get better by the end of the day, but starts back up after application. I do hold the corner of my eyes when applying the Lumigan. I also woke up during the night with severe pain in my chest. I have had my heart checked with an EKG and treadmill stress test and all is well. I realize that I must keep my eye pressure down, but I really think the Lumigan is not only burning my eyes, but my esophagus as well. I never had this burning sensation prior to taking Lumigan. I have been using the drops about a week in my right eye only. I do not have high Pressures (between 14 and 16), but the doctor felt that because of other variables, he would treat me for low pressure glaucoma. So far the only side effect I am having is right after I administer the one drop in my right eye, I have a nasty taste in the back of my throat as if the medication is making its way to my mouth. Last night it caused me to cough until I gagged. It's like when you use a nasal spray and it eventually makes it down your throat. I see my doctor again in a month and will ask him about it. I have never experienced this feeling with other eye drops (redness reliever, or lubricating drops) which I also use daily. Read More Read Less

I have seconday glaucoma induced by steroid use in the eyes (I have systemic atopic disease and recently my eyes have been severly affected, so have to use steroid drops in them twice daily, which has spiked the pressure badly - a response that means it's likely that I will eventually develop "real" glaucoma as I age). My pressure had soared into the forties in one eye, and a beta blocker in the eye was no longer effective. We have tried all of the other classes of glaucoma drugs, and I have terrible reactions to them. The lumigan works - literally within hours my pressure had gone from 46 to 17. For the first few days it made my eyes red, but that has mostly resolved. They are a bit red in the morning, but that's about it. The lumigan does dry out my throat and sinus cavity, but again, not intolerably. My biggest concern is the risk of iris darkening/brown pigmentation as I have pale green/grey eyes, which my eye doctors have said are likely to change if I take the medication for more than a couple months. For that reason I hope I can stop taking it soon, but I'd rather have brown eyes than be blind, I reckon. I don't get any of the weird side effects a lot of people report - and for what it's worth, it's extremely unlikely that fatigue or shortness of breath would be attributed to this kind of drug, whereas it's a lot more common with other glaucoma drugs. I would at least try it, if it's not counter indicated for you, and especially if you already have dark eyesRead More Read Less

Took medication for 6 months never missing a day. Skin under the eye darkened Eye lids darkened and pupils of eyes do not even look like my eyes, they look sick. Most important one morning I woke us with severe vertigo. Went to Urgent care was not vertigo from ear problems no stroke and heart problems. Went to Eye Dr the next day. I told him is was the lumigan (he still does not believe me) I told him I wanted to stop taking it. He said my pressure was OK and to stop taking it and go to my medical dr to make sure everything was OK. Everything was OK, CT scan on head was good. But 3 days after I stopped lumigan, my dizziness disappeared,in addition I had a feeling that I had a beanie on my head and it was causing pressure. That also disappeared after about a week. Tomorrow I go back to the eye Dr.as the 30 days are up. I need to go see him as I have a weird feeling in my eyes or head, sometimes a funny headache, sensitive to light, have eye strain,I feel like my eye glass prescription is not strong enough. Afraid to take lumigan again. I will know tomorrow just what he is going to want me to do. Read More Read Less

After 7 weeks of using Lumigan my eyelashes are very long, very dark, and a lot thicker. I've also experienced puffiness below my eyebrows, and some irritation and redness in my eyes. I also had a very sore throat, but I'm not positive it's from the Lumigan, although it happened within a couple days of starting and I don't remember the last time I had a sore throat. So far the side effects haven't been bad enough to stop using the drug, although I'm wondering how much longer my eyelashes will get.Read More Read Less

Lately I have been experiencing sounds that are interfering with my sleep. It is a buzzing sound throughout the night. During the day I do not experience the sounds. I do use Cosopt & Lumigan. Are my symptoms due to use of these mrdications? Elmina

I've been using Lumigan 0.03% successfully for about a decade in combination with timolol and was horrified to learn today that now only 0.01% is available. Not sure what to do. Previously tried Xalatan for two days but my eyelids swelled with so much fluid I could not blink.
