My dad takes this medication and it does help with concentration and mood swings. The dosage does need to be adjusted every few months, but it does work.

Only been on it for 3 week. Don't see much change so far, I think a little less confused. I have notice I'm having a lot of leg cramps. Not sure if this a side effect or not.

Didnt really notice much change in mums cognitive impairment but lived in hope it would slow the progression of the disease. Unfortunately after 12 months on Galantamine mums just had two silent heart attacks and in hospital having a pacemaker fitted. The cardiology consultant stopped Galantamine straight away as a side effect is bradycardia ( low heart rate) mums blood pressure was 219 over 94 on the day of attack and normal day before, so just came out of the blue. Mum has not got any other health issues and never had any heart problems. Scary times. Read More Read Less

Started at the low dose and increased to slow release 24mg. Been using for 3yrs. Have had leg cramps, cold numb feet. lost weight-though not drastic. Memory improved, worried that Hydrobromide causes loss of libido, but it doesnâ??t apparently is a myth. Discovered that not necessary to take in morning, can take at night. Noticed a difference in Dementia symptoms very quickly- within days, things much clearer.

my husband was diagnosed three weeks ago. He is currently only on 8mg which will increase to 16mg in a couple of weeks. The effect has been extremely good already. He is much better, more focussed, remembering far more. I hope we can continue with this for some time. He has had no side effects and is sleeping much better (despite having to come to terms with the shock of the diagnosis).

After seven days of a 16mg dosage once a day I experienced lower back pain, trouble sleeping, depression, lower energy level, indigestion, blurry vision, difficulty swallowing, head aches, and taste problems.

I had a very bad reaction. Nausea, headache, anger for having giving this pill to me. I can't explain it very well but I felt weird in my skin. I am 87 and have many illnesses that require prescription drugs.I've had side effects but nothing like the one I experienced with Galantamine.

Increased ability to think clearer, along with mental alertness, and I follow, listen, and comprehend conversations better. At first I was skeptical having tried Aricept, from 5 mg to 10 mg I had an adverse reaction. From day one the Galantamine was started at 8 mg and increased to 16. At this level, it is effective for my condition. No side effects, I am a person who has a mild cognitive impairment with short term memory loss; diagnosed mild/early stage form of dimensia. I am extremely high functioning in this capacity, but have trouble with immediate recall, and forgetful. This is due to what appears to be lack of blood supply to my right paretal lobe in the brain. Cause is unknown.Read More Read Less

Brought back her remembering dates, names. Able to read books again. Definitely improved memory right away. 8 months in and she may need to up the dosage, but taking 2 pills brings on bad nightmares. I am very grateful for the pill.

My wife was on this med for over 1 year. It helped for the first 6-8 months then her cognitive functions began to decline rapidly. The doc took her off the drug. No other drug has helped.
My Mom has improved somewhat with yhis medication.
