I just wanted to write a positive review because everyone's were so negative and i was afraid to start taking this after reading about it. i didn't gain any weight, my boobs got a little bigger, and my skin stayed as clear as it always had been. i still get slight period cramps but overall its SO much lighter and only lasts 3 days which is awesome. i would definitely recommend :) don't be scared o...

My experience taking Aviane was horrible. It worked for preventing pregnancy, but included me gaining 30 lbs over a 30 day period, grotesque looking stretch marks, (i'm 20 yrs. old and can no longer wear tank tops) breathing problems, muscle pain and cramps, severe fatigue, vaginal swelling so intense intercourse was impossible, mood swings, and worst of all a doctor that wouldn't acknowledge that...

Overall my use of this medication has been pleasant. I have not gained any weught except for my breast which is a plus. The first month my period came on a little early and lasted longer then before i started birth control but after that its normal. I havent experienced any of the noted side effects. Some of the reviews i read are misleading maybe the psychological side effects they were experiencing had nothing to do with the drug just that those were previous problems. This is the birth control of choice!! Thanks AvianeRead More Read Less

I am going to be the oddball here and say that I like it. Every other pill I've taken has had too high of estrogen/progestin levels and gave me horrible side effects. This is the first pill that hasn't broken me out too horribly, made me a raging B!!ch or induced anxiety. Thank god for low dose !!!

I switched from this pill six months ago and hated the new ones, so I switched back to Aviane just two months ago, since the first time I was on it, I loved it. The second time around is a different story. I am terribly moody now, especially around the time of my period and I constantly feel hungry now. I'm not sure what the difference is from the first time I was on these pills, except that maybe switching around too much really is messing with the hormones. My experience this time is totally different and it's for the worse.Read More Read Less

As far as painful periods go: I have 3-day bleeding with almost no pain. I used to throw up and have cold sweats, but no more. However, I have gained 10-15 pounds over 2 years of use. Before Aviane, I used Triphasil for almost 3 years.(I gained 20 lbs while on it, and lost most of my libido. ) Before bp's, I never had a weight problem. I am thinking about switching to Yasmin or a IUD. Otherwise, it works well for birth control, and cycle regulation.

I had extremely bad mood swings while using this product. It also caused a lot of vaginal irritation/discomfort.

I am required to be on some form of bc because I have PCOS. This pill has made me gain 12 lbs (and I work out 4 x's per week and eat less than 1200 calories per day), I have discomfort due to vaginal swelling, and I'm in a horrible mood all of the time. I'm asking the doctor to switch me.

I'm glad to see i'm not the only one that has had issues with this medicine. I have also gained weight with this. Considering i am at the gym 4-5 days a week and watch what i eat carefully. Also, made me moody too.

I am glad that I am not alone. Aviane turned me in to a very nasty lady and I absolutely hated it. I started taking it a month before my wedding and 2 months in to my marriage I went off of it. I could not control my emotions. I felt angry and sad all the time. Now that I have been off of it for only 2 weeks, I feel so much better. Back to normal (except for spotting.) I would not recommend this pill to anyone.

My experience with this pill was not bad. I did have some spotting between, but nothing major and I've had that with every pill I've tried. I did find that I lost a good bit of weight around the time I was taking them. I am not totally convinced that the pill caused the weight loss but it's possible since I wasn't trying to lose weight at all and once I switched, I gained some of the weight back. I'm going to try switching back to Aviane.

When I started my period, everything was normal. When I was 15 I started getting really bad migranes, passing out, vomiting, and getting severe cramps from my periods. My doctor put me on this birth control and it was ok for the first month. Then I started getting mood swings, I became depressed, I hated everything, it didn't help with my problems at all. I strongly recommend NOT taking this medicine. I would never take it again. I am now on YAZ and I love it so much. It works so well.

To me, this is a HORRIBLE pill. It has made me feel like i'm PMSing 24-7. I have bad mood swings and longer periods although light ones. I would not recommend this pill what so ever! i'm going to switch as soon as possible.

I began this medication for possible "change of life" signs and heavy periods. I am thinking of changing bc or trying a new kind because of the emotional symptoms. Starting at about pill #13 in the pack I have moodiness, intense mood swings, anger throughout the month, decreased sex drive, and even sinus drainage and a lot of coughing. I've also gained about 15 lbs. in a few months. I don't know if all bc cause side effects like this, but wouldn't it be nice if a "one size fits all" one without all the side effects would come out? Any advice of a better pill would be welcome. Read More Read Less

When I discontinued taking it, the hormones still continued to wreak havoc, causing an average of 10 lb. weight gain each month for three months, and a missing period for three months also, fatique problems still existing. It seems I can't escape it and am now undergoing a process to see if the pill destroyed my thyroid. Please, if you have a history of type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure in your family, do not take this pill. Most women do not experience these side effects, but what's worse is that most doctors these days don't understand them either. I decided I'd rather run the risk of getting pregnant and destroying any career opportunities then put my body through this kind of stress and discomfort again. Read More Read Less
