I have a history of diverticulosis. Twice now when food got trapped in the intestine pockets, I have been prescribed Lactulose. When I asked how this worked so quickly to eliminate my pain, the doctor explained this medication acts as a magnet to enter the pockets and then eliminates the rotting food particles trapped in there. It creates moisture and sends it on its way thru the intestines where...

MY DOCTOR HAS PRESCRIBED THIS FOR APPROXIMATELY 8 YEARS! I HAD TO INCREASE AND INCREASE THE DOSAGE FOR IT TO WORK, SO NOW I HAVE TO TAKE THE STRONGER LINZESS WITH IT. IT DOES GIVE ONE GAS. I ALWAYS THOUGHT CONTINUED USE OF A LAXATIVE WAS BAD FOR US? WHY DOES MY DR. KEEP ME ON IT FOR SO LONG? BECAUSE I'D NEVER GO WITHOUT IT (I HAVE A TWISTED COLON) AND NOW I THINK I HAVE A BLOCKAGE…….BELLY...

I took lactulose in both the syrup and powder forms. Even though constipation is one of the symptoms of my condition, lactulose worked too well. It was difficult to sit through an hour-long lecture, even though I emptied the bowels immediately before. I remember several occasions when I had to miss social events because of leaking. On top of that, this ranks just above Brussels sprouts in the worst things I've ever tasted. The drug barely helped my brain function, and I simply got sick of choking down 2 doses every day. I would rather chew asprin than drink another dose of lactulose.Read More Read Less

My son is 17 months old and has had a horrible time with constipation since he was about 6 months old. We have tried Miralax, mineral oil, and changes in his diet. Nothing has worked. I took him to the doctor and said we have to do something. He shouldn't scream and cry when he has a BM so we decided to try Lactulose. I have him his first dose on Saturday morning and by Monday he was pretty much normal. Hopefully this is our answer.

This stuff tastes great, especially compared to Milk of Magnesia. Highly reccomend if you can't stand the taste of other constipation remedies.
