after 4 uti's in 3 months, was put on this medication 100mg q 12 hr. have not had another infection in 4 months. will probably be on it rest of my life.

I have a severe allergic reaction to this drug. I now wear a allergy bracelet. Even half a tablet my mouth swells to a point where I cannot eat and I suffer from extreme itching in personal areas of my body. I need huge doses of steriods and takes a week to where I can start to feel relief.

This medication caused a photo sensitivity and skin eruptions

I have been on this for approximately 1 month so far and have gradually been experiencing muscle weakness in all my extremities. (legs,arms,hands)I also have lupus so I assumed it had to do with that dx but decided to look at the side effects of this medication since it was a new issue. After looking at all the reviews and possible, rare effects, muscle weakness was included. So I have decided to call my doctor and let them know I am discontinuing this medication due to this problem. My symptoms for original reason for taking has cleared up. Within an hour of taking this I was in bed with body shakes and tremors, palpitations, burning skin and extreme muscle weakness and soreness. On a psychological level it left me extremely panicked and anxious but in a way I was aware was chemical too, very disturbing. During the night my skin became so hot I lay on the sofa downstairs and concentrated on breathing slowly as it effected my breathing and I got bad cheat pains...stopped taking them after two tablets. i felt really ill a lot of nausea feeling uncomfortable all around flu symtoms feeling i cant breathe

Was put on a 3-day course of Trimethoprim. It seemed to cure my UTI but 3 days later it was back. Suffered AWFUL stomach cramps, headaches, tiredness and general feeling of 'unwell'. Would like to say it was good as it stopped me weeing every 5mins after the 2nd day but I can't stand any type of headache and I sure can't handle chronic stomach pains!!

The 1 hr before or 2 hrs after food instructions were not on my prescription - I just take it with food avoid nausea. Drug was effective after only 1 dose. Nauseous on and off but bearable. Felt a bit tired overall, lacking energy, loss of appetite and bad taste in mouth! Worth it tho....

I have been on this drup for about a year to clear up my ovaien cycst result from a UTI this drug is expensive to fill ,side affects include headaches,leg cramps and leg tendon pulls out of socket swelling on leg tendon, problem sleeping etc..

currently on trimethoprim for a suspected UTI, the pill could be a lil smaller, its very diffuclt to swallow. i have also experienced the overall tiredness and rapid heart rate, dunno if its because the prescription is preventive(my UTI tests were negative, but my doctor put me on antibiotics anyway) and the drug is overwhelming my body or if its just a common side effect. still, lest see how it goes..

I have taken this drug twice (3 day course) in the past four years. The first time it worked, this time it hasn't. Shame because I only had minor side effects - I think taking it just after food helped. I've now been prescribed a different, stronger drug to try and cure my UTI but I'm scared to take it after reading the bad reviews!!!

i have been taking trimethoprim for acne, i would strongly suggest not to have any waxing treatments whilst taking this drug. i waxed my eyebrows and my lip and took the top layer of my skin off, it was soo painful!

Taking drug for skin boil. Difficult to swallow the chalky pill and experience severe joint pain

I had a UTI which had persisted for about 5 onths. The original meds my gyno perscribed for me didn't do a thing for me, and it was awhile before I could go back. I went to my GP and he prescribed this drug. The UTI symptoms were gone within 1 day. What a relief. I had no side effects or complications with this drug. I a one satisfied user.

I had virtually no energy or endurance.

Please pay attention to the warning of SUN EXPOSURE. I did not, which has resulted in a terrible itchy rash and swelling of the eyes and mouth. I can not express the severity of the warning! Wish I had listened!!!!

it worked fast i got bite by a black widow

This worked within the first day. I had no side effects. Some people may have a minor skin rash, but I would rather deal with that, than have to worry about my tendons tearing.

The only problem is waiting to take it 1 hour before or 2 after.
