Toenail fungus. Gentian violet has been recently banned by health kanada (only country in the world that has deemed it toxic for topical use). Ordered powder from Russia & made my own 2% sol'n.

Contract Nursing with the Australian Army, we used Gentian Violet for severe fungal foot infection... Worked wonderfully.

My daughter is prone to thrush. She was put on Nystatin. After a month I asked my mom's group for advice. Someone suggested Gentian Violet. Started sanitizing everything with it and within days it was gone. Good stuff! Stains, but it's much better than my daughter hurting from thrush.

This was prescribed my daughter's pediatrician years ago when she was a baby. She had developed thrush and had shared it with me when breastfeeding. Nothing he prescribed. Then, he told me to get gentian violet and how to use it. Yes, she had a purple smile for a bit but it worked quickly and totally got rid of the thrush.

I love this stuff. I first used it for yeast on my 1 and 3 year old. I used it again thinking thats what my 1 year old had after antibiotic. Come to find out it was hands foot and mouth I painted her body with it and the sores and rash were clearing up with in 2 days. My 3 year old is now breaking out into the rash I painted her with it and the next its clearing up.

When I was a child (I am in my late 70's now) my mother always used this for cat scratches and minor wounds. Never had any kind of infection when mom put "purple" on it. I still use it when my old cat gets careless and scratches me.

Got a recipe of 16oz rubbing alcohol, 2 tbsp boric acid and 15 drops gentian violet. My daughters dog had nasty ear i nfections where he rubbed his ears til they were raw and bleeding. We flooded his ears twice a day for 2 weeks then once aday for 1 week then once a month. No more infections at all and that was 2 months ago.Thinking of trying on my husbands toe nail fungus

I had a doctor in the UK use a tampon soaked in gentian violet for a yeast infection that I had. It worked overnight, unlike the more specifically-targeted anti-yeast infection medication, although I would likely find it too messy to try myself.

I am 70 yrs, my mother(a nurse)treated me when I was a child with canker sores. She took Q tip and dried the sore,then coated the top with gentian violet.It killed the pain usually within 8 hrs and the sore went away. I have used it on both my children and grandchildren. We treated it as a miracle drug to be respected by all.

Last month, gradually had re-ocurring pain in ears and throat, so my husband carefully cleaned the applicator leaving the tip covered and coated the inside of my ear as far as he could inside as you would clean with a Q-tip and did this twice.
