painful bloating

I had Rny Gastric Bypass 21 months ago and this medication is wonderful for those times of Diarea, works fast and last, okayed by my doctor.

I discovered Loperamide by accident after several years of not being able to travel or go anywhere for an entire day. I take two 2mg tablets each morning after breakfast and one 2mg tablet after dinner each night. I am back to living a normal life and traveling. I used to be afraid to go anywhere at anytime. I use generic brands from the local pharmacy or grocery store.

using initially for diarhhea related to withdrawal from morphine based cough syrup. was having withdrawl symptoms. unable to control cough syrup intake. decided to stop had bad diahrhea, a pleasant side effect was that it arrested the cough syrup withdrawal symptoms about 80 percent. taking about 15 mg a day under dr. advice and going down 1 mg a day till down to zero. amazed that it not only helped diahrhea but stopped the chills, sweats, runny nose i was having. strange but true for me!!

This is the only drug that works consistently and stops a bout of diarrhea right now for me. I get the brand Imodium which is easy to open - the generic requires tools to get the pill out. I take one as maintenance whenever eating out, at someone's home, etc. where I don't know how the food is prepared. It doesn't entirely stop the IBS effect, but it gives me time to reach a bathroom and "go" normally.

For whatever reson, this drug seems to take 2 days to show any results. When you have diarrhea, dehydration sets in long before this medicine works. I have had better luck with Pepto Bismol.
