I was diagnosed with Rosacea 4 weeks ago. I had painful pimples all over my face. My dermatologist prescribed Metrogel to be used once each day, with an oral antibiotic, Doxycycline 100mg, twice each day. Today ws my 1 month check-up and my face looks so much better. I have to continue using Metrogel daily.

I have perfectly good health care, but a few yrs ago, all of a sudden, my copay NOW COSTS OVER $200!!! IT'S OUTLANDISH AND INFURIATING! Who do they think they are, any way. I can't afford it now and my face looks horrible.

After suffering with quire severe rosacea for 10 months and trying several over the counter gels I finally gave in and went to my doctor. He prescribed metrogel 3 weeks ago and the results have been nothing short of miraculous. All of my p and p's have gone and and I now just have a small area of redness which is fading. Metrogel has literally been life changing for me

Dermatologist prescribed this and it's awful. It burns my skin and feels like putting on gelatinous fire than an antibiotic cream. It seems to make the Rosacea worse. It is also very expensive.

I found this gel to be drying of my skin. I actually made my rosacea look worse.

I have used this medication 2 times a day for 6 months with marginal improvement. I got the same degree of clearing with over the counter medications at a much lower price.

It takes awhile and there is occasional outbursts but it does work. I used to get those red blind pimples with no head on my nose and cheekbone area and it cleared it up in about 2months but I get an occasional out break when I am under great stress, so part of my therapy is learning to relax and cope, take each day and its problems as they come. You can only do your best and the outcome can not always be changed in fact most of the time, in retrospect you worried for nothing. I cannot stress this advice enough, stress kills and you might end up with a huge red pimple on the end of your nose...Oh Nooo lol Kevin.Read More Read Less

Been using this for 6 months and seemed to help a lot in the first 2 months, but then became completely ineffective. It's as if turning a light switch off. And at $75/bottle, I stopped it. Doc tried Finacea, been using it for 3 weeks now and it is miracle cure for me. First time in 50+ years I'm actually cleared up, hope the Finacea keeps working...!!!

I just started this (0.75 - have used twice so far) and am very pleasantly surprised with the results so far! I'd say there's been about a 20% improvement. For the past few months I've had these red postule patches on my forehead that just won't go away. I finally realized I have rosacea and a doc quickly confirmed it. This was $106 at my pharmacy but I'm now happy I tried it. Will update as I continue to use for 3 weeks. Fingers crossed!

I give the 5 stars around with the stipulation that I believe I may be starting to get minor facial tremors in the treated areas after 5 years of twice a day usage. I started reading a bit more and it does appear that in a small percentage of people there can be neurological effects. I'm still yet to make this a solid correlation but am going to be doing to the doctors to find out. If it's not, this drug helped my rosacea so much. My skin is nearly perfect.

Been using this for 2 months and seems to help a lot, but certainly not the end all cure all. Still have the break outs but they are less severe and pass quicker. My history: 48 years of using over the counter stuff, two rounds of Acutane (30 yrs ago) along with 15 years of Tetracycline and then moved to 15+ yrs with Amoxicillin. Still, the most effective drug for me is Amoxicillin (500mg 2/day). Metrogel cost with insurance is about $75, not cost effective versus Amoxicillin, but I need to get off of antibiotics, so I'll keep going with Metrogel.Read More Read Less

Last year on my left eye lid it was red, crusty & itchy. My doctor said it was Rosacea. Then I got it on my right eye lid. I started using the Metrogel 1%, it did burn when applied but it took it away in a short amount of time. I was applying it daily but now I use it every couple of days. Now that it is gone it no longer burns when applied. It has not returned. Over all very happy with the results.

The first month of using this product my face seemed to stay pimple and redness free. However, the second month I have new pimples pop up every day and the redness is getting work. My face looks 10 times worse than before I began using it. I plan to return to the dermatologist and ask to be placed back on Finacea. Finacea worked better for me.

There is no question that Metrogel is very effective. The real crime in this though is that it is a much lower dosage of Tetracycline which you could get at 250mg and 60 pills for a $10 copay. Now you cannot find Tetracycline anywhere. My guess is because Metrogel comes with a $100 - $200 copay depending on your insurance. Shame on the Pharm companies

For 52 years, I've had to contend with acne breakouts, and I've purchased so many acne products that all would fill a U-Haul trailer. Then my doctor recommended Metrogel 1%. Wow! In 7 days I could see a difference! My skin is is best it's ever looked, and I constantly receive complements about my facial skin. With insurance, a tube cost me $55.00, but the tube lasts about 4 months! Ordorless, colorless, non greasy- I can't say enough great things about this product. I can even shave with any knd of razor and not worry about skin irriattion and red pustuals forming. If Metrogel 1% ever receives an indication for teenage use, this company will make millions more. Come to think of it, I wonder why it's not indicated for all acne. A super great prescription! Thank you,Galderma Laboratories!Read More Read Less
