I was part of a phase 3 study and have been taking Raloxifine (Evista) for quite a while. I have Celiac Sprue which inhibits absorption of food which can result in osteopina. Raloxifine has kept the progression of osteoporosis at bay.

I am not in the usual group of prescribed individuals for this drug, but it worked for me nonetheless. I am a 20 year old male that developed gynecomastia during puberty. It wasn't really a problem until recently when I started dieting and cutting body fat that it became apparent. I had the choice to either go for surgical removal or try this first as I had heard that it may be effective. I took 30 mg daily alongside supplemental vitamin D and calcium. My gyno was reversed completely in about 35 days.Read More Read Less

After taking just 1 pill, I had widespread pain especially in my spine and ribs. Then my throat felt full and closing. I had taken Benadryl for the throat tightening and it helped. But, the joint pain everywhere was incredible. It felt like I had the flu. I will not take this medication again.

I was disappointed that my bone loss had not been slowed down after five years of Evista, though it had not significantly increased either. As there is no mention of the day underneath each pill I sometimes get confused whether I have taken it or not, as I do not lead a rigidly organised life. There used to be an indication of the day of the week as with THE PiLL but this is no longer the case.
