I have smoked at least 1 pack per day for over 30 years and have tried to quit several times with no suceess until I discovered the Nicotrol Inhaler. I have not had any side effects. I have not smoked for 7 1/2 months so far. I did not smoke as many cartridges as recommended and it still worked for me. The oral fixation was very difficult on previous quit attempts, so this product was very help...

STAY AWAY FROM THIS INHALER!!!This has helped with cravings and the hand to mouth habit---but the burning in my mouth is HORRIBLE. I have not used this product in over a month and the buring sensation is still strong. I only used 1 cartridge and that was enough for me. My food tastes bad, as does everything else I put in my mouth, even mints, toothpaste, gum, toothpicks--anything!!Not sure if the bu...

The 1 mg tablets are great ??.! I haven't smoked in 5 years but still like to carry them in my pocket.

I am so happy my insurance covers this. In my experience half the cartridges don’t work. I’ve tried short little puffs and very long ones. I don’t taste anything and my craving’s do not go away. I’ve had a very bad experience. I’m happy for the ones it worked for. I wish it was me.

Excellent device for me. I smoked for over 50 years and finally quit with Nicatrol puffer. I love it! Very satisfying for a long time smoker like myself.

I like that it gives some effect like the dirty stuff in lungs addicted to. Wish they could put THC Oil in them.

Can anyone tell me how expensive the inhaler is? I don't want to get a prescription and find out I can't afford it. I see it is used for quite awhile. Thank you.

Being a two pack a day smoker for twenty years put me in the hospital with a collapsed lung/pnemonia/plueral effusion/chest tubes..the list goes on.. fortunately, I was released after three weeks of recovery and the pulmonologist started this medication. I had tried everything on the market but this was a different situation and a different delivery of medication. It absolutely worked for me but I knew it had to be the solution too bc there wasn't another choice besides premature death at that point. I absolutely recommend it if you have tried everything else and it didn't work. It's not without side effects of course but I pushed through and I am so happy I did.Read More Read Less

I am surprised to read that some experience a burning sensation. I have never had that issue. I feel very fortunate for that, as this is the only thing that helped me quit. I get the hand to mouth movement plus the sensation of smoke hitting the back of my throat. It truly works for me.

Smoked for 40 years and tried everything on the market to quit. Doctor gave me this and I have been smoke free for 72 days now. First week was bad but got better after that. There is a slight burning in the mouth and affect on taste, but I had that when I smoked. I can now walk up the 11 flights of stairs for my job without stopping every 2 floors to catch my breath. It is great to be smoke free. I would recommend this to any smoker that wants to quit.

I began smoking camel cigarettes at 6 years of age when I began drinking beer. I am now 68 years old. I quit smoking post prostate surgery 3 years ago. I was never able to quit before using other products and hypnosis. It has worked well for me up to now. Recently, I visited my cardiologist for a check. I used a fresh nicotrol cartridge and 'smoked' it in the waiting room while awaiting the tech who administers the EKG. The EKG that day showed arterial fib, an irregular heartbeat. I take beta blood pressure meds, and for the last month before the EKG I had been experiencing a numbness or tingling in my left hand and was concerned I may once again be a candidate for a 5th cardiac stent placement. So I was a bit nervous. As a result of the EKG, my cardiologist increased my blood pressure medicine and prescribed a blood thinner to alleviate the possibility of clots forming behind the valves of my heart. Thanks to a neighbor sharing this site information, I'm going to taper off and see if I see improvement in my numbness and tingling. And when I see my cardiologist again June 30th I will tell him of my discovery.Read More Read Less

I am a pack a day smoker for over 20 years and have tried many times to quit. This is the only thing I've found that will give me the hand to mouth and nicotine in the same treatment. It curbs the withdrawl and the psycology of it is that I can still have a "smoke" without having a cigarette. The burning is uncomfortable, but that is making me NOT want to smoke. And you can't hold it comfortably like a cigarette so I'm changing that habit too. I am elated to have found something that will help me to finally lose this habit. I haven't had a single cigarette since I started this inhaler and I'm using far less than I smoked in cigarettes.Read More Read Less

Nicotrol inhaler was effective from the start for my husband. However, having an addiction problem to other substances, this may not have been the right path for him. He is addicted to Nicotrol and has used it for 8 1/2 yrs. Not sure why his doctor is still prescribing it. He has attempted twice to quit using this product, but has failed. There is a distinct, chemical odor from his skin which I believe is from Nicotrol use.

This helps with the cravings. There is something missing. How do I stop the burning in the back of my throat and feel more satisfied with using the product physiologically like smoking did. I am determined to quit smoking but there is a lot missing.

My mother made me promise her to quit smoking on her deathbed, and I told her I would when I finished the cigarettes I had at home (6 cartons). At my mom's wake, I asked my good friend, who's a nurse, how was I going to keep that promise---I started smoking with her when I was 12 years old, and now I was 58, and had been smoking 46 years. She recommended the "Nicotrol Inhaler" prescription' I got the prescription from my doctor, and stopped smoking on the morning that I smoked my very last cigarette. I am within walking distance of a store; and, I was sure that I would buy a pack before the day was over, but I didn't. I'd tried patches, gum, and pills---none of them worked! I would recommend the inhaler method to anyone that wants to quit and can't. Believe me, my whole life centered around when I was going to have a cigarette, I stopped smoking in my house because I caused my cat to get asthma, I smoked on my back porch in winter weather of 32 degrees or less in New England while reading the morning paper and drinking coffee, the cigarette cough was most irritating & embarrassing at weddings, in church, or at the movies or a restaurant. I truly don't understand why there is not more publicity about this method of quitting smoking. It was the best for me!!!Read More Read Less

The nicotine burnt the back of my mouth, but it worked wonderfully. The want is still there and will be for a while. It's been just over 2 weeks but it just will take some time and will power to do this. I know I can for my health.

I used the Nicotrol Inhaler in early 1999 to assist with my effort to quit smoking. I only had to use one full Rx of 42 pellets and half of a 2nd Rx, and I haven't had even one cigarette in over 10 years now, after 47 years of smoking. I developed moderate COPD in the past decade from my past smoking, but I'm certain the Nicotrol Inhaler has added years to my life, and the quality of my life as a nonsmoker so far is greatly enhanced.
