I am a senior in high school and have been on Levora since freshmen year. I loved it! My periods were lighter, my cramps weren't as bad, my boobs grew a little bit and I think it made me 10x more horny than I already was! I did get cravings for things that I do not usually eat which was weird. Just this year I started getting really bad mood swings, panic attacks, and anxiety attacks. Then i s...

I have been on this medication for about 2 years now and I have to say I'm absolutely devastated by its effects. Don't get me wrong, it has completely worked by not getting me pregnant, but I am experiencing some terrible side effects. Within the past year I have noticed a significant amount of hair loss. I researched that hormonal birth controls can definitely cause this because of the amount ...

This medication was one of the worst experiences of my life. I am a 19 year old woman, and I was put on Levora because I was forced to go off my previous birth control pill after I switched from Blue Shield to Kaiser. I was put on birth control at the age of 15 for other reasons, mainly to stabilize my hormones, help my acne, help my severe PMS, help with "brain fog" and energy levels, and prevent PCOS. I was hesitant to change, but I was now sexually active, and also looking forward to a smaller chance of breakthrough bleeding but did not anticipate having serious side effects. In the two weeks I was on Levora, I experienced an excruciating migraine that left me scrambling to the hospital, and lasted for six days. I spend days sleeping, and I had severe mood swings where I was crying for two days. It interfered with my school work, and when my period started after I was told to stop taking it by a doctor at the hospital, I experienced the worst cramps and heaviest bleeding of my life. Sex was strangely painful, and I was eating everything and had no motivation to exercises. PLEASE- before you take this medication notice that it can cause severe headaches, if you've ever had migraines before, or are sensitive to hormonal fluctuations DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICATION!Read More Read Less

I have been taking Levora for six years and have no complaints- normal weight, skin, and this pill got rid of awful cramps. Judging from some reviews this pill works for some and not for others. My doctor did tell me that this pill does not work for everyone, however. If you experience problems I suggest calling your doctor and switching pills.

I started taking Levora to help with the breakthrough bleeding I experienced with almost every other birth control pill I had tried. It worked remarkably well for that, but the acne I experienced while taking Levora was not worth the trouble. I had pretty bad acne in high school, but it was nothing compared to the countless pustules I had during my 3 month trial period with this pill. I broke out all over my face, and it only got worse as I continued taking this pill. It was painful and embarrassing; I didn't want to be around anyone, especially my boyfriend (at that point, why even take birth control?). The worst part is, since I've been off of it for two months, my acne hasn't improved much, and I didn't have it before starting this pill. So why does this pill cause acne? If you google levonorgestrel (the kind of progestin in Levora) you'll find that it has the highest androgenic activity out of the various types of progestin used in birth control pills. That means increased oil production which equals acne. So be warned, fellow pill seekers, if you do get acne while on Levora and you stop taking it, it may take months for your body to come down from its andro high.Read More Read Less

I have seen great success with the use of Lybrel. I would recommend not missing your annual exam with either your gyn or your breast exam.

I am sure this birth control caused a growth in my lower abdomen. It was on both ovaries, bladder, intestine and fallopian tubs. My doctor found it was unknown, but treats it as enometriotis. It hurts and continues to grow. It also hurts too much to have sex, most times.

I am 17 years old (african american) and I started taking Levora on Feb. 15. I take it like Seasonique. The insert stated that I could have sex on day 7, but my ma told me every doctor has told her to wait at least 28 days. (ma made it EXTREMELY clear she was not saying she was okay with me having sex, but proud that i came to her before i did which was NERVE WRECKING for me). so i waited till the 56 pill to have sex with my boyfriend of 2yrs. Had sex, and started my cycle THE NEXT DAY. i was early. (was not supposed to start cycle till the week of may 23 (week of grad) - i started april 25) so i called my doctor, she said it was okay. so i calmed down. then i got off of my cycle. and spotted nine days after that. I know, it's crazy. but honestly i just wanted to make sure everything was okay, i was not soaking through pads or tampons and honestly if breakthrough bleeding is the only symptom i was going to have with this pill i was not about to complain. Plus it cleared up the little bumps i would randomly get on forehead and chin (plus the dark spots) i didn't gain weight- my weight stayed the same. I stopped spotting, (had sex, and did not start my cycle or spot)took my pills as usual (i have never NEVER missed a pill the latest i've been is 30minutes (and that was between pill 20 or 30, because my alarm didnt go off, now I set my phone alarm and my clock alarm to be sure) it is the week of the 23rd, tomorrow is grad and i am on my cylce as expected. I am not cramping NEARLY as bad as i used to when i had my cycles, I have been on since the 23rd and I have not taken any medicine to help with my cramps because they are near non-existent, my cycle is not as heavy as it used to be (i still have to wear a pad) but i am okay. The breakthrough bleeding was annoying, but like i said if that is the only price to pay to not get pregnant yet..then i will NEVER complain. I hope this helps someone. Read More Read Less

I have been on this drug for about 3 years and am switching to a different kind. I have had a low labito nearly since I started and am now having to have my gall bladder removed(due to stones that cause extreme pain sporadically), which, from what I read seems to be linked to birth control.

I had started taking this pill about 4 years ago. I have a fibroid tumor on the outside of my uterus and it is to small to have removed, it has beeb causing me pain. My Dr, put me on Levora and i do not have any pain at all. My periods are only 3 days, the flow is a little lighter than when i would go 7 days not on a BC pill. I am currently in the process of trying a new BC pill that will have less hormone. But i highly recommend this pill.

I have been on Levora for over a year. This is the first pill I have tried and have been really satisfied with it. I experienced a little weight gain, but its alright. I also have light, short periods now which is great. Another thing I love is when you want to skip a period, just keep taking the pill instead of stopping them for a week. Love this pill, will recommend

I am not satisfied with this pill because since i have started the pill i have had severe hair loss and a very low labito. I have not seen any one else comment about hair loss but it has taken me almost a year to realize just how much i actually lost. I have very thick hair and now it looks and feels thin i hate it.

I have been using Levora as a form of birth control for over 3 years now and I am very happy with it. I have had no side effects or complications and I am of normal weight and physique. I take as directed and I have not become pregnant. I love it.

I used this pill for one month and suffered from severe breakouts, lack of libido, vaginal dryness, and extreme mood swings. I recently switched to zovia and am much happier, my skin is clearing and Ive noticed no lack of libido or any of the previous side effects.

I have been taking this pill for 2.5 years. It is an effective form of birth control, but because of the side effects--a lack of libido, vaginal dryness and excess discharge, acne, moodiness, weight gain--I have decided to stop. I have read message boards describing similar side effects as a result of taking this pill, which leads me to believe that they are common. I would rather switch to a pill that also clears your skin, like Ortho Tri-Cyclen.
