I had major back surgery overa yr ago and need another. Soma has been very usefull in my tx. However I did not know about it's addictive properties and am now weighing the pros and cons. I think I will keep taking it but maybe talking with my doctor about taking less or a smaller dose. It's hard to give up something that actually works very well.

I will say it helps my knees and hip area. I have found that different makers of the pill gives my pain a so so to good releif! I have had 2 total knee replacements and 1 has never healed right. I asked the doctor to take me of the Phentonyl(I know I spelled it wrong sorry) patch for the pain and he placed me on Loratab 10.5 with the Soma it has helped! I have been on this for 3 years. I don't like to be on medication but my pain gets to be a 9 out of 10 other wise. My back reaps the releif also due to disk issues.Read More Read Less

I have had muscle spasms in my back for many years. This is the only medication that works for me.

After major back surgery-this drug in combination with Vicodin and Lidoderm Patch are the only miniscule relief I have had-it's a good drug when used as Directed-it has been a lifesaver for me!

I've been on soma for 5yrs & my doctor has made me try other muscle relaxers, due to soma being very powerful & addtive. But when u have extreme back spasm's nothing works more effective then soma. The side effects can make u nervous at first. Dizzy,slur speech,shakey,tired,hot flashes,etc. But once ur on it for awhile you over come those effects. ALSO VERY EASY TO OVER-DOSE ON [CAREFUL}

I have been disabled with neck and back injury. It helps a lot to releave pain.

This is the only thing that has helped my back. i have 4 bulging disks in my spine and sometimes they spasm and make it to where i cannot move-I start taking Soma and it helps. of course it doesn't take the pain away completely-but be resonable-there is no miracle pill. Simply put-this is the best drug there is for relaxing your spasms. i love that it has a generic and i get it so cheap. it helps me sleep and work 8 hours a day from a desk. Please try it, just don't abuse it!

I notice

I had a car accident when I was sixteen and had a broken back. Some times Soma is the only thing that helps when I lay down to go to bed or in the middle of the day.

It just doesn't seem to keep my spasms from happening.

simple, the drug works doctors are skiddish about long term use though too bad

simply put..this med is a great pain reliever. i just wish people would take it properly so drs will not be scared to rx it.it saved me!

I have FMS, CFS, Arthritis in my neck which causes painful muscle spasms that cause cluster headaches. Degenerative disk disease and a thoro-columbar scoliosis. I have been on and off Soma for many, many years. The only time I am off is when I have a Dr. that will not prescribe it. Soma works great for me. I am on 4 times a day now along with Norco 10\325 4X daily as well as a myriad of other meds for insomnia, etc. Don't know what I would do without my Soma and Norco as they help me lead a normal life.Read More Read Less
