I have received injections every three months for the last 1.5 years due to chronic back pain from a car accident. The injections are, at first, very painful, and it can take up to 6 days for me to fully recover, but within a week or two I feel perfectly fine! With these injections I am able to retain full range of motion with very limited back pain. Unfortunately, I do have to go through this sam...

Given an 80mg injection to knee. The entire area doubled in size and 5 days later wasn't any better. I still am having trouble walking. Followed up with the dr. and she can't see me for two weeks. Severe heartburn but dr. said to buy Prolosec OTC to combat chest pain and burning sensation. She also hit a vessel at the injection site.

I have advanced osteoarthritis in both knees... I received an injection in each knee about 3 weeks ago. My knee pain is dramatically reduced, but the side effects have been horrid. 3 weeks in to this I'm still struggling with periodic nausea, jitteriness, rapid heart rate and anxiety. Despite the effectiveness in greatly reducing knee pain I can't handle the side effects. I'm hopeful this all goes away soon!

Please be careful when doctor suggests injecting you with Depo Medrol. This steroid is not approved for epidural steroid injection in your spine whether it be for herniated discs or back pain. Physicians get paid quite a lot to administer this drug but it has caused many serious permanent side effects and even deaths. You tube the story of Jimmy Fickle, he is just one of the many cases/victim of this drug. This drug is meant to be administered in muscles and joints but NOT the spine. Please people inform yourself. I know that many are in pain ad are desperate for relief but you are gambling with your life if you are considering this option. Think of your family, kids, parents and spouse, and yourself.....this drug can mean the end of your life or a life of permanent excrutiating pain. Listen to me, I know from experience. My dad had a herniated disc c7-t1 and was in a lot of pain. Prednisole(pills) and anti-inflammatories and muscle relaxers and pain pills did not work for him. His doctor told him that a Depo Medrol injection was a safe procedure. He went in to get it and 8 months later he died. The eight months after the injection robbed him of his life. He was slowly and painfully dying. He was in so much pain that death was a welcoming option. He regretted getting injected. The doctor told him it was a safe option and severe side effects were rare. This is not true. My dad was in great shape and ran many marathons. He was 48 when he passed away. Please do not become another victim of Depo Medrol ESI. There are other options than death. Please reconsider. If I can convince one person to run out of the doctor's office if he recommends to inject you with Depo Medrol, than I have saved a life. You don't have to listen to me, pleae do your own research. You will be surprised with what you will learn. I know the pain you are havng, but you wll have even more pain if you succumb to using this drug. The relief, if any, will be temporary.Read More Read Less

My doctor said this drug was to carry me over until the plaquenil kicked in (about a month). It's a simple, relatively painless shot in the gluteus max.

Either in the winter (live in the northeast) or in the spring my sinus allergies get so bad that I make an appointment to get this depo medrol shot in the butt. Within 20 minutes, I can feel the inflammation go down and I realize how foggy my mind had been. I think I have had this shot about 5 times and always wish I had scheduled an appointment earlier to get relief sooner.

after the 1st shot I didn't feel too bad, however a month later after my second injection, I had terrible migraines, lasting over 2 weeks. I also have not had a period for over 2 months since getting the injections and have had terrible acne. I have herniated discs on C 5 and 6. I still have neck and shoulder pain so I will not be getting another injection. DID NOT work for me, too many negative side effects that are ongoing!

it worked quickly and left me almost pain free for the first time in a long time. I got my first 40mg injection approximately 6 weeks ago and only within the last week have I felt any pain again and its still nothing compared to the pain I had previously..at least not as of yet.

I've been receiving monthly injections of Depo-Medrol for about 7 months now. I don't know what I'd do without it. The injection is for my bursitis, but since my first injection, I no longer have pain in my ankles, wrists, back or neck. All my arthritic pains are gone. I can put up with the mild heartburn, which is the only side effect I can see. I am having difficulty losing weight, but I am able to control that. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't get my injection. We are stretching it out now to 5 weeks to see how it goes!Read More Read Less

My md gave me a shot in neck/nerve area as a pain procedure for right side neck/shoulder/arm/spinal pain as result of osteoarthritis, degenerative disk disease, scoliosis etc. I awoke having a seizure, with no feeling on left side of body. hand and sensation to touch, weakness and function of hand has never healed. this occurred 7 yrs ago. spent 10 days in hospital treated by neurologist being treated for basically a stroke. Am now applying for ssdi. Am curious if I am only person who's life has been ruined as a result of depo Medrol injection.Read More Read Less

My symptoms: blurry vision, hip pain and poping noise, extreme increase in joint pain(burning joint pain), weakness in shoulder muscles, severe vertigo, insomnia, weakness, lethargy, upset stomach, heart pounding :I was in a car accident almost two years ago. I have gotten 4 rounds of 40mg. shots in my neck. I asked about the side effects and was told this was a harmless anti-inflamatory. TOTAL LIE!!!! I have had terrible side effects that I didn't connect to the shot because I was told it was harmless and didn't interact with anything. Also I feel like this was forced on me by the ortho doc even though I told him I didn't want to take it last time it made my eyes blurry. Read More Read Less

Every winter I get the Depo-Medrol Inj, I cannot live without it. I work in a dirty factory and I have breathing issues every year in the winter when the factory is closed up from not having good ventilation. I cannot take allergy meds because they knock me out.

I had depo-Medrol administered in my spine in neck area in two places by a doctor. This was to relieve pain due to an injury. After only two injections, which were three weeks apart, I experienced swelling of entire body - face, neck, stomach increased 2 1/2 inches, etc. Papers I signed before injections said this could be a side effect (Cushings syndrome) when administered 250mg dose or higher. My doseage was lower, but yet I still experienced these awful side effects. Doctor said side effects should subside as depo leaves my system -- few week, months -- can't be sure of time period. Bought three new outfits so I have something to wear. Awful experience. Would never get depo-Medrol injections again. Oh - injections did help somewhat, but still not relieved. I think I would rather live with pain in my neck than get as big as a house. Read More Read Less
