The dr. prescribed this for my 4 yr. old. I was told he had a sinus infection. He had a bad cough and was wheezing so they gave him a breathing treatment at the drs. office. He did not have any side effects. His behavior did not change as stated in other reviews. He was also put on an antibiotic. I cannot say for sure if this medicinie helped his condtion, that's why I gave a low rating on effect...

My doctor prescribed this as he put it my body is fighting an "unknown". I had been breaking out in hives on and off for about 2 weeks . I went to ER twice and they in term suggested that I go to a specialist. Needless to say my hives will bo away for about 3 hours at first. But I notice the more of the medicine I take the less the out breaks. But this came with a price I get the extreme shakes. And I was told it was an reaction to the Prednisolone so my daily in take when from 3 pills twice a day to 1 pill 3 times a day .. I still get the shakes but not as bad and I have small aniexty attacks . I'm wing myself off the meds and I'll take my chance with the hives. I don't like the way these meds make me feel.. I have had asthma since I was about a year old, so have been taking some form of this medication periodically for the majority of my life, usually for either a week or so at a time, but there have also been times when those weeks extend into months of prescriptions of the prednisone taper. I've yet to figure out what makes my asthma decide if 1 week is long enough for a flair up, or if a couple of months are needed. The medication itself is VERY effective!!! Especially the first few days at the highest dose, it totally turns around how I've been breathing almost immediately, which may or may not contribute to the "on top of the world" feeling I have when beginning this med!!! Lots of energy which makes up for the fact that at the beginning I have a bigger chance of flying than being able to doze off in my normal way, which is ok AT FIRST, but gets old after about 2 nights of staring at the ceiling or rewatching reruns most of the night. I prefer the week long doses of this med because months of the fluid retention, and increased appetite are EXTREMELY hard to lose the lbs from!!! EXTREMELY!! Not to mention the "Moon Face"!! I personally notice these A/R even with 1 taper dose, but with just one round the benefits GREATLY out weigh the down falls!! I just hope this time sticks with just the one round!!!Read More Read Less

I have an appt. with my allergy Dr. today. I will beg for PREDNISOLONE. I say beg because it seems the speciality Dr.s do not want to give this out. I probably use it once maybe twice a year to clear me up it is the only med that works wonders. So, I don't care if at 90 yrs old I get severe health problems from taking PREDNISOLONE 50 years prior. It is wonderful and it works.

I was prescribed this after knee replacement after I had a lot of swelling, pain and stiffness of the knee joint. It worked wonders for me and reduced the inflamation to the point that my knee flexation and mobility increased greatly.

My doctor prescribed MethyIPREDNISolone to correct a sinus problem that lingered for 30 days without an infection. I wish I consulted WebMD before taking the medication. I thought it would increase my immune system, apparently it does the opposite! Could have done without it and it side effects: nausea, sweats, rectal bleedings, tiredness, increase in appetite, moods swings and rage! I took my last tablet yesterday, from a serie of 21 tablets 4mg for 6 days. The side effects surpass the benefits! I would not recommended not even to my enemy! Read More Read Less

My 8 year old son has dermatomyositis and has been taking this 2 times a day for the last 8 weeks. We did experience the rage in the first 3 days but that did pass. His inflammation has come down and he should be weaning soon. We did see a huge increase in appetite and he has puffed up (belly and face) from being on it. He seems to respond much better with an IV pulse which he has had 7 times.

I just went to the emergency care for hives (all over my body). This medication is not effective to my condition. I still have crazy itchiness and hives are still all over my body. I will go to other clinic to give me other medication.

My 2 1/2 year old was prescribed this by the ER doc when breathing treatments were not enough to alleviate the asthma she got from her severe upper respiratory infection. The effectiveness I can't be too sure of because she was also on antibiotics. The poor rating is due to a complete behavior change; my daughter turned into a raving/whining/constantly crying child that I did not recognize. She was able to sleep her normal nap and night sleep times. I will be calling the doctor TODAY to see if she can discontinue this medicine. Read More Read Less

This was given to my 5 year old son because he had a huge itchy rash all over his body including his scalp. This was caused by a virus. When his face began to swell they prescribed this medicine. It caused him to become overly hyper and very emotional. After reading the reviews on this site I called my doctor and got him off of it. He only took one dose. It worked but I can't imagine what he would have been like if he had to stay on it. My doctor did warn me but he said it was 1 in 10 kids. It seems like it is more then 1 in 10 based on what I have read here. If you have to give this to you child then do so but check if their are alternatives first.Read More Read Less

My 4 year old granddaughter was given this drug to reduce the severe symptoms of poison oak. Never again! She took the full prescription for 7 days and it worked great for the poison oak, but she was very aggitated. The 1st day without the medicine she went completely craxy - kicking, screaming, throwing things, hitting. It was the worst day of my life. I would never use this drug again!

Our 2 1/2 year old was prescribed this for an allergic reaction to something unknown to us this time and got the same reaction as last time when he had an anafulactic reaction to peanut butter and was given this. He was bouncing off the wall and very aggressive and cried over everything.(unlike him) I can say it did work to stop the swelling and hives and it was easy to administer but, he only took it for 2 days instead of 6 after I called my pediatrician and she said we could stop giving it to him as long as he was feeling and looking fine. Very recently diagnosed with IgA Nephropathy (Berger's Disease). Prednisolone (50mg daily) was prescribed (along with blood pressure medications) in an attempt to reduce inflammation of the kidneys by suppressing my immune system somewhat. Side effects noticed thus far include inability to get to sleep until around 2am and slightly increased appetite. Also noticed an excess of energy during the day, though this may be the result of my blood pressure settling due to other medications (originally at around 210/160).Read More Read Less
