This drug should not be given to children. It has not been tested on them. I have seen my patient get sleepy, drowsy, fall asleep standing up, et. on this drug. The FDA has no business approving an antihypertensive drug to 12 year olds. ***STAY AWAY PARENTS***

My 18 yr old daughter, our youngest, has been taking this drug along with Concerta for over 10 years. It has helped her tremendously! It made a difference immediately. She was able to focus better and helped her stop throwing temper tantrums every time she didn't get her own way. She started out taking 1/4 of 1mg tablet and is now taking 1 1mg tablet at bedtime. I am a mother of 3 children; 2 w/ADHD and 1 w/ADD and all took ritalin to begin with and are now on Concerta. Their doctor monitored their weight, height and blood pressure to make sure they were where they should be for their age. We make sure our children eat before taking the medication so there is a minimal loss of appetite. We have also taught them that medication isn't the answer for everything and not to go through life thinking a pill is going to solve their problems! Parents, be cautious and research everything. Talk to your doctor before you give your children anything! When my children started a new medication or dosage change-I did it on the weekend so I could monitor if there were any side effects! And never ever, give your child more than what the physician has prescribed! If your child seems spaced out-call your doctor immediately! The dosage may need to be adjusted or changed or stopped altogether! People think kids who take medication act like they are drugged or spaced out. People don't know my children take medication unless I tell them and most of the time, they don't believe me! Medication doesn't work for everyone, but it has worked for mine. Read More Read Less

My 4 year old has ADHD and was given this med. by his doctor a litle over a week ago. It has changed his life in so many ways. He is able to sleep at night, stay focused in pre school, temper tantrums are happening less often and he is not impulsive like before. I have been very impressed with this med. and have not seen any real side effects.

I have an 3 year old autistic daughter who exhibits self injurious behavior. This medication had little to no affect through her first month. Due to possible side effects, I decided not to continue the medication.

I have been taking Tenex for several years for my Tourette Syndrome and ADHD. The dosages have increased so now I take 3 pills 3 times per day. Although I still have some tics they are much less apparent than when I refrain from taking Tenex for several days. The only side effects I've experienced are slight drowsiness and slight dizziness on occasion.

I was given this along with Wellbutrin for explosive anger disorder and anxiety. The first 3 days were no good, however, since then I have not lost my cool or "imploded". I am much more patient now. Sweet

My 14 month old son was started on Tenex to help control his tics due to mild Tourettes. We have noticed a severe drop in the amount of tics he has had in just the last 6 days he has been on it. I was not aware of how rapidly this helps.

My daughter is 16 years old and has,in the past year, been diagnosed with ADD. She also has mild tourettes. It has helped her performance in school amazingly, but has had little effect on her tics. It also helps her outside of class, in social situations homework, etc. She takes 1mg, and has fluctuated between 1 and 1 1/2, but the 1 1/2 makes her tired. If she is forseeing problems, she takes 1 1/4 for a few days. Definitely worth a try!

My 9-yr old daughter has Early-Onset Bipolar Disorder with comorbid ADHD. We have been through MANY medications in the last 6 years. She is on Seroquel and when the Tenex was added, we noticed a significant reduction in the anxiety and it seems to have slowed the "super-rapid-cycling" she goes through. SHE is actually happier about the way she feels.

My 8 yo daughter has been on Tenex for over a year. She has Tourette's Syndrome, ADHD, and OCD. We have had no side effects .. Just less tics. It has been an inexpensive medication with great results.
