I love this birth control. I see a lot of bad reviews but I have been using it for over 4 years now and compared to others I have tried it is the best. For me, on this dose I have never gotten a period. Every few months I have very light spotting during the time the time one should have a period with this drug. My doc says it is fine, I do not ovulate on this med. I have never gained any weight on...

My old birth control was discontinued. I was taking it successfully for 4 years. I was prescribed this birth control instead. I was pregnant in less than one month. Beware!

After not having a period for 7 months, my gyno examined me and declared that I had "hypothalamic amenorrhea" caused by a problem in the brain, not the ovaries. My body had quit making estrogen. I was also losing my mind. Psychiatrists diagnosed me with bipolar disorder, the same insanity Charlie Sheen supposedly has. Microgestin has eased my mood symptoms in one month. I used to cry all the time for no reason -- my life was fine, it was my brain that was screwed up. I could not talk about anything emotional without appearing to have a mental breakdown, even though I knew logically there was no reason for it. I'm a college-educated 40-year-old, successful woman. Now I think the mood swings were caused by a massive hormonal imbalance that the estrogen in Microgestin has corrected. I am no longer depressed. I don't feel cold all the time. Unfortunately, Microgestin has caused one really disgusting and uncomfortable side effect: EXTREME BLOATING. I swell up like a balloon after eating anything. I am a diet coach, so it is dismaying to gain weight, bloat, and binge after being so slim and disciplined for many years. I hope to find an alternative estrogen which doesn't cause bloating. But I am grateful to have my sanity back. Read More Read Less

I've been using this pill for almost a year now and I haven't had any unpleasant experiences. Normally I suffer from very bad cramps which are nonexistent now thanks to this pill. I haven't had any side effects at all (physical or emotional or anything like that). The only thing is that I never really get my "period" (which is extremely light and more like barely spotting) on the placebo week. I either get it a week before hand or start spotting very lightly for like 2 weeks which can be a bit annoying (and the reason why I'm looking into something else). But this shouldn't intimidate you into trying it, the spotting is barely noticeable, it's just annoying.Read More Read Less

Ever since i started using this birth control I have been fighting bad yeast infections. At first I thought it was this China Shrink Cream me and my boyfriend were using, so i stopped using that. keep getting it so i had him checked for one, he didn't have one. So i started researching and found out it was a common side effect to some birth controls, so i quit talking this kind and they have went away! So i recommend steering clear of this one! But i never got pregnant and we had sex like we were trying lol! Read More Read Less

After just 3 weeks, I have completely broken out. I am 38 years old, and never had acne before. It is terrible. I have also gained weight and it is negatively affecting my sex drive. I will be coming off this medication as soon as possible.

I have, for the most part, always taken this medicine regularly. I am 25 now and have always been sexually active on this medication - I have never been pregnant.Read More Read Less

I am taking Microgestin FE 120 for a month now. I took the first pill and then decided to just read up on it. I was scared out of my mind after reading reviews. I tried to calm myself down by saying that people usually only give reviews with a bad occurence. Raily do people seek out these sites to give a positive one. Nevertheless I was scared. I thought I was going to gain weight, be an emotional crazy person, suffer from bad eye sight, etc etc. I was especially scared because I would take the pill at noon and at 5 pm everyday I would feel nauseous. I changed my time to 5pm, and hey problem solved. I am usually in bed by the time the nausea would start. Other than that, no weight gain, no headaches, no lose of sexual interest, and no breast tenderness. Everyone is different and their bodies react differently. I would say I am very satisfied with this birth control.Read More Read Less

I've been taking this medication for only a week to get my hormones back on track and keep me from having an irregular period almost every day. So far the medicine is doing well at it. I haven't had any spotting since I started it. However my right ovary has started to throb and ache randomly through the day. My sex drive is lower (not gone) but for me personally, that's a good thing. I'm going to stop taking the meds and talk to my doctor about it after the holidays. I haven't been on it long enough to feel any of the emotional drawbacks others have described.Read More Read Less

I haven't been taking it long but I'm taking it for birth control and lighter periods. Since taking it I have noticed I've been more irritable, no sex drive and my bf jokes saying it's a birth control not sex control. I feel hotter also. I'll be at work and everyone is freezing and I'm sweating! I'm a really easy going person and it's bad when my patients notice a mood change. I will definitely be changing birth control pills.

I am starting my 3rd month on the drug. I didn't realize that my doctor had prescribed it to be taken continuously. When I went off the drug for the 4th week, I felt terrible. This month I am not off the drug during the 4th week and I am doing better. I tried to avoid taking anything for the change of life, but gave in when I experienced cramping when I never had cramping before and mood swings. The microgestin seems to have leveled things off. I am sure that I will not get any more periods since I am taking microgestin continuously. So far so good.Read More Read Less

I have been taking this pill for a couple of years and i loved it.....at first. Now i desperately need to switch to something else. I have recently lost 20 lbs...and maybe that is why it no longer works for me, but my periods now last about 2 days longer than normal, the bleeding is heavy, and the cramps are horrible. Midol doesnt seem to help. Also....the worst thing about it is that my sex drive is GONE...i dont have one anymore!

I have been taking this pill for about a year now, and it has been effective. i have regular periods every month, minimal cramping, and never experience weight gain, dizzines or nausea. my only complaint is that consistently, every month i am emotional a few days before & the week during my period. i am angry, i cry easily, and for this reason i'm looking to switch bc pills. keep in mind everyone is different & this may work wonderfully for you.

I have been taking this medication for 13 yrs. In the beginning it was for birth control and endometriosis. I was very pleased with the results for the endometriosis. I did go off of it for a year and a half to try to get pregnant, but due to the endometriosis I wasn't able to conceive. However, I went back on it continuously and now I am in menopause and it has helped with the symptoms. I have had virtually no side effects at any time and I have a complete physical every year and always get a "clean" bill of health.Read More Read Less

On 4 months on microgestin I did not get pregnant. However, I missed my first period, got the second one in the 3rd week, the third was the only regular one and the fourth lasted nearly 2 weeks and came with weak bladder control. I have never experience such irregular menstruation with any previous birth control and will definitely not be continuing with microgestin.

I had always had very painful cramps even with regular birth control pill. I chose the 3 week deal where there are no placebo's you just take the next pill. Now no period! also don;t have to spend money on tampons and those portable heating pads. One time I had breakthrough bleeding but it was brief....I have had no side effects
