The medication worked very well for me. But the only compalint that I have is that I cannot hear out of my left ear. I have been using the medication since the 22nd of December and my ear is totally clogged. I will have to return to physician to see if this problem will require additional medical treatment. I've tried to blow my pinched nose but still clogged. I cannot hear very well out of m...

I have an inner/outer ear infection and my doctor prescribed Ciprodex and Amoxicillan. After only 1 use of Ciprodex, I experienced total hearing loss in both ears. I notified my doctor immediately and he said it should go away within a week. It has now been 2 weeks and although the hearing loss has improved somewhat, I still have significant hearing loss, especially my right ear. My ENT doctor...

I’m using the treatment now. I just started it and my ear is plugged now and feels like a needle poking inside my ear. I can’t sleep from the pressure. I might go back and get it checked 2 am. But I’m roughing it out and see what happens in the morning.

I was diagnosed with a bad swimmer’s ear aka outer ear infection. I was given these drops because “my canal still had a small opening and these should bring down the inflammation” WRONG! after my first dose I got the most excruciating pain! I was already crying from the pain previous to using the drops, but this pain burned and was so much worse. I could feel my ear throbbing at times. The next morning I took my second dose and again the pain was unbearable, but I was trying to stick it out. After reading reviews, I decided I needed to check in with the pharmacist. Sure enough, she said it should be bringing the inflammation and pain down not making it WORSE. Got to the doctor and they confirmed that my ear had swelled SHUT. This is considered an adverse reaction and was documented in my chart. I was then prescribed Ofloxacin drops plus oral antibiotics because it had progressed so severely. If you can, ask for something else. It’s not worth it to “try” these and end up worse than before. Also, I’m currently uninsured so paid $125 for the devil drops and only about $35 for the Ofloxacin that ACTUALLY WORKED!! save yourself! i was going to try and listen to the reviews that say to stick it out, but honestly BAD ADVICE! trust your body, and write down what works so you can ask for it again if there’s a next time!Read More Read Less

Ruptured eardrum due to middle ear infection. Was prescribed oral antibiotics and this products. Seems to have worked as infection cleared up. I do now have a nasty, burning sensation in my throat which I think is a result of the draining of this product into my throat (same side) None of the very bad effects suggested by others.

I was prescribed this for a middle or outer ear infection. When I was prescribed, my pain level was a 3. After 4 doses, 12 hrs apart, My pain level is a 5 or 6 and covers not just my ear and left side of my throad, but the left side of my jaw now as well. The doc assured me that this would not make my hearing loss worse, and I'm not sure if it has but my tinnitus has been worse which may or may not be caused by it. I'm mainly concerned that my pain is worse, basically, that it is not helping at all and may even be making it worse. To top it off, it cost me $80 when the augmentin I used last year was fine and cheaper. Not sure why the doc was so pro-this drug, but I wish I hadn't listened to her, wasted my last few days and nights of sleep in pain that was not covered by OTC pain relievers, and hadn't wasted the money. This drug is by far the worst prescription I have received for any sort of infection. I went to the UTC where I was prescribed with these ear drops due to my swollen infected ears (caused by Swimmer's ear). It was an outer ear infection. Once taking the drops after already being in immense pain, the pain escalated. I recieved side effects such as nausea, crying, restlessness, irritation, unbearable pain etc. I lost all of my sleep and couldn't do any of my day to day activities due to how intense the pain, pressure and blockage was in my ears. I was incredibly worried that I may of had hearing loss and permanent damage to my ears. After only 1 use of the eardrops I have stopped and I will never be using them again. Read More Read Less

Went to the doctor to get a prescription filled and as my right ear felt a bit full I asked him to check it. He said there was a bit of fluid in it so he prescribed Ciprofloxacin Dexamethasone drops which I took for approximately 8 days. I stopped because I was getting musical tinnitus which I've never had I'm my life. I went back to the doctor and he examined my ear and made no comment, only referred me to an ENT specialist. The Ciprodex definitely caused my tinnitus because it started after using the drops four drops twice a day. I'm still suffering after two months. I would never recommend these drops to anyone. I feel there is something in them that damaged my ear! Read More Read Less

I was in pain before I used the drops but after my face swelled up infront of my ear , my entire ear swelled up too. The pain quadrupled from these drops, don’t use them. I’m on day three of my ruptured eardrum and googling the medicine prescribed for me because I’m in tears with pain. The pain wasn’t this severe before the drops and it wasn’t swollen either. These are terrible and I now question my ability to pick a quality doctor!!!

Ive had a really nasty and chunky "acute otitis media" situation for over a month. Seen 4 different doctors to no prevail. Finally saw and ENT and he gave me oral antibiotics and Ciprodex drops. The first dose he gave me himself and it did tingle and burn but within 2 minutes, the discomfort was gone (but i do have a perforated ear drum) so maybe thats why. Im on 4 drops 3x a day and in my opinion they're not as bad as everyone says. Of course we all react differently to things but i say just try them and see how they work for you first.Read More Read Less

Painful ear, perforated ear drum, outer (middle? They didn’t saw I’m assuming middle as well) ear infection with fluid drainage and painful ear. I’m a certified wimp for putting medicine in my ear, but these ear drops didn’t hurt in the slightest for me! Very comfortable. I had a muffled feeling in my ear before the drops, so I don’t attribute it to them. Maybe a single SLIGHT tinge of discomfort while waiting the 5 minutes for these ear drops to finish sitting in my ear, but it was just the same as I had been feeling the whole time with the infection so I think it was that rather than the drops themselves. I’m not afraid at all to continue using them, and I am a big baby. Read More Read Less

The other users here are very dramatic and unfairly giving people a scare from this wonderful ear drop. 1. The tingle I felt was only on the first two applications and that is due to the ingredient in the drop acetic acid and once you take it more than once your ears become used to this mild ingredient. It will tingle temporarily than it will quickly become way better as the dexamethasone reduces all inflammation inside the ear canal and drum. 2. The clogged feeling/deafness is literally people not draining drops back out after application.. I had no deafness. The negative reviews had me afraid for days to take this drop. I finally gave in due to pain, headaches, dizziness due to ear infection and by application two at bed time I slept great with no symptoms by bed time. Stop letting misinformation scare you guys! The majority of the people here are describing symptoms of their ear infection NOT this meds side effects. This drop greatly helped me please don’t be misled.Read More Read Less

I went to see my ENT regarding a water/liquid sensation in my ears and he prescribed this Ciprodex and after about 10 days,my ears were plugged( I had no hearing problems at all on my original visit, only water)...he got me in right and removed residue from each ear drum and it looked like an translucent covering, something like food wrap over a bowl.He said that the Ciprodex would not cause hearing loss...guess what Doc!

I have never experienced ear pain like this in my entire life. As I'm writing this, it's 5:30 in the morning and I've been jolted awake, in tears, with stabbing, throbbing pain in my ears and unbearable tinnitus. I've had a mild but stubborn ear infection for several months, and finally decided to bite the bullet and get it treated after I developed some mild pain that was inconvenient at best. I've been on ciprodex for about a day now, with no other medications. The side effects are excruciating. I have so much swelling that I am unable to fully close my jaw, and swallowing causes a series of pops that agitate all the painful areas. I understand it's too soon to evaluate the treatment of my symptoms themselves, but I may have to go back into urgent care tomorrow and see if they'll switch me to something else. Had I known the treatment process would be so harrowing, I likely wouldn't have opted to go in and get it treated at all. Dealing with occasional itchiness and irritation was a breeze compared to the pain I'm in. My pain tolerance is generally pretty high, and I have no history of medication interactions or anything so this feels extreme. Taking a max dose of ibuprofen is the only thing that has barely touched it, but I haven't experienced such an intense degree of pain until now. If it worsens I may consider a trip to the ER just for some pain relief. If I can bear through any more time using this drug I'll return with a new update, but as for now I am questioning my ability to even make it through a full 24 hours of use. Read More Read Less

I had my ears cleaned out, due to wax build up. Doctor said mild irritation noted in one ear so prescribed Ciprodex to ensure any possibility of infection was addressed. Now after 3 doses of these drops my ear is swollen shut, moderate - severe pain, headache from it. Had no pain, only sensitivity & soreness prior to use. The drug is also expensive, $104 with my insurance & generic was $90 but not available for 4 days (wished I had not taken it at all) now my doctor insists on a weekend urgent care visit to recheck my ear before prescribing another option. All in all this is a very poor option and has proven to be quite expensive. Would definitely NOT recommend. Pharmacist says there is no recourse to return drops but I cannot use them and they reacted poorly for me. Love healthcare, no accountability because they truly are “practicing” on us. Within 3 days I felt a massive improvement and my ears started to crackle and clear, by day 5 I felt almost normal and the doc said my infection had gone. Continued to take until day 7 but would recommend and didn’t get any of the burning sensations mentioned here

I had a bacterial infection that caused severe wax buildup and swelling on and around my ear drum. I'm not certain but my inner ear was possibly also infected. Other medications had limited effectiveness. Ciprodex has proven to be the only medication that seems to have cured and solved my problem. The positive results were almost immediate.

I have used these drops twice for outer ear infections (swimmer's ear) and both times had horrible experiences. After the first day of using the drops, my ear infection and pain worsened significantly. Swelling increased, intense excruciating sharp pains and aches in my ear, completely closed up my ear canal, and the infection spread to my other ear both times. I could not function normally due to the level of pain I experienced. Pain in my entire face jaw, cheeks, temples, I couldn't even chew or sleep. I continued to use the drops as prescribed for 4 more days and experienced temporary hearing loss which lasted for about 3 weeks even after the pain, swelling, and infection cleared. These drops aggravated my condition TWICE and made the pain so much worse! I stopped using the drops and the infection cleared up on its own. Read More Read Less
