I have no idea why there are so many bad reviews on this birth control! I made the mistake when my doctor first put me on this BC pill to read reviews. I was so terrified to begin taking it but my doctor assured me I would be fine. (Previously I was taking Lo Loestra but my insurance no longer covered the cost). I had finally decided to take it, as I was beginning a new relationship and definitely...

I started taking Junel a month ago and now have started the first week of my second pack. The first month was okay: minor nausea, sore breasts, minor bloating. did not notice mood changes. not sure about my sex drive. I did not get my period during my placebo week. Now that I have started the second month I feel terrible! The most noticeable symptom is AWFUL BLOATING. 5 hours after I eat lunch ...

please don’t take this pill, i chose to take it despite all the bad reviews i read about it, the entire time i was on it i only had 1 regular period that lasted 6 days and my periods have never been irregular before the rest of the times my period will last 2 weeks and there was a time i got my period just 9 days later after having had it before and despite all this i still kept taking the pill because the only problem was the irregular periods so i thought it’d go away, on the first day of starting my 6 month pack i got a really bad panic attack( i didn’t know it was a panic a time at the time because i’ve never experienced one, i just thought i was dying lol) my body felt completely weak afterwards and numb-like i went to the hospital 2 days later they did a bunch of tests and found nothing wrong with me and just told me to take it easy and days went by despite feeling like shit i still kept taking it because the possibility of it being caused by the pill didn’t cross my mind at the time. i’ve been struggling with non stop panic attacks, dissociation, fatigue and blurred vision for almost 3 weeks now, i stopped taking the pill 5 days ago and i still feel the same way but i’m hoping after a few weeks off the pill i’ll start to feel like myself again. i don’t wish what this pill put me through on my worst enemy. the pill does really work at pretending pregnancy, but the side effects aren’t worth it. i hope this can prevent just at least one person from going though the terrible experience i went through. stay blessed.Read More Read Less

I have been on Junel fe 1/20 for 1 year. My periods have always been a problem, but pmdd had me feeling crazy and extremely depressed in the week leading up to my period. In the past I tried many different BC pills including one made specifically for PMDD as well as implanon. They all caused terrible side effects- weight gain, low sex drive, depression, mood swings, and the one for pmdd left me feeling completely numb and disconnected. Enter Junel Fe 1/20…first 2-3 months were rough, spotting, mood swings, feeling queasy- but I will say only part of that was from the BC since I was going through a difficult breakup and moving across country. Since my 3rd month on it my experience has been great! I use it to skip my period and only take the placebo pills every 3 packs. While on Junel fe I have been able to lose weight, not been overly emotional, skin cleared up, and until this month I had no period, even on the placebo pills! Started placebo week yesterday and did get my period for the first time in about 9 months, but I have been very stressed and am ironically in the same situation of going thru a bad breakup and moving across country, soooo maybe it has something to do with that?? Overall I highly recommend Junel Fe 1/20, especially if you have pmdd! Read More Read Less

I'm on my second month of this birth control and so far its been well. The first 1-2 weeks weren't fun because of the feeling of nausea and headaches I got but those subsided easily. This my first time ever being on any birth control. I have noticed very very mild breast growth and my first period was the lightest I ever had. I'm also a very healthy individual, I work out 3-4 times a week and maybe I don't see as much negative side effects. Except I've noticed my mood swings increased and I cry a lot more. Overall I think this pill is great for the time I've been on it.Read More Read Less

I like taking Junel Fe. On it, I have not become pregnant, my acne is reduced, my periods are light (sometimes only spotting), my mood is stable, and it does not affect my weight or hunger. Having come off this pill once, the only side effects I can report for people just starting it is a reduced sex drive/increased vaginal dryness. I'm not a very sexual person, so this never bothered me, but I know for some it is a deal breaker. Coming off this pill has given me horrible side effects though, including tons of anxiety, depression, brain fog (more like brain mud, my thoughts are slow and hard to find), and constant nausea/no appetite. As far as birth controls go, I think this one is a great option. I just wish there was a way to reduce the withdrawal symptoms. Read More Read Less

Absolutely no side effects other than being very wet. I'm talking going through two pairs of panties a day. This was a pleasant side effect that normalized after two months. I take continuously so as not to have periods.

The WORST side effects. Started this pill about 6 months ago as it was recommended by my doctor to interact positively with my PCOS. Within the second week I began throwing up multiple times a week ans suffering from nausea and extreme food aversions. This continued for about 3 months and I became hopeful that things were getting better. Nope. For the past 3 months (totaling my now 6) I have been experiencing constant migraines that extend to my jaw, worsened vison, a complete lack of appetite, weight loss food aversions and nausea. Not only that, this has not helped with my PCOS at all!! I should not have given it 6 months but I was trying to be optimistic as it has really helped stabilize my mood. 2/10 The only benefit was not getting pregnant and less anxiety - followed by the decline of my overall health. i had depression before starting the lower dose Junel 1/20, and two months into taking it my depression got significantly worse. i cant leave the house, i dont feel happiness anymore, and have suicidal ideation daily. i have broken down almost every day since it got bad. im almost done my third pack and im switching pills. if you start to spiral, IT IS THE PILLS. i was so scared something was happening to me or i was pregnant, but after multiple tests i figured its the pills. not only has it worsened my symptoms, it has failed to get rid of my cramping that makes me pass out. i have been extremely bloated for a month now, constant pain and discomfort even when i starve myself. overall, its been quite horrible. i know different pills work for different people, but if youre currently on junel and you have horrible symptoms like me, ask to switch. the pain is not worth sticking it out for another month or two. I took Junel Fe the past three months. It just wasn’t for me. My skin looks great but I am experiencing other side effects that have made me switch to a new pill. My depression was pretty bad the first two months - just was never in the mood to do anything. Sex drive was also pretty low which is not normal for myself. I feel like I gained a few pounds as well. I also experienced sweating?? My scalp, hands and feet would literally get so sweaty. I also got a few bad migraines on this pill. It wasn’t awful but I want to try something different. This was my first birth control and I was very hesitant about getting on it. My gyno recommended it to me because of my heavy bleeding, intense cramps that would make me pass out as well as hormonal acne. It helped me with those things and more. I have been on this pill for 2.5 years and very happy with it. Many worry that birth control makes you gain weight, but I actually lost a lot of weight on it, maybe because it balanced my hormones out. I think that birth control is a thing that affects everyone differently so you will not know if it's your type of pill until you try, unfortunately. About 6 months into taking birth control my breasts began being very tender and hurt so much I couldn't turn at night and it worried me. I almost switched birth controls. But it dissapeared in couple of months and all fine now. Another worry that many have is the affect of it on mental health. From my experience, the first couple of months were rough but it got better overtime and now I do not feel that it's affecting me mentally. Read More Read Less

I have clinical depression, and with medication for that, I feel amazing. But, on my period, it would get really bad. I started taking this, and my gyno and psychologist decided it would be best to take only the active pills, that way I never get my period. During the first few months of doing this, I still would get my period. Now, I haven't gotten a period in about 2 years, and I have 0 complaints at all.

This is only my 3rd week on this brand, but mood swings have been insane and I've begun crying almost every night which is not normal for me. yes, I am a teenage girl, but I'm not like that. I've also been noticing that my hair has been falling out more and it's thinning.

This birth control did not work for me at all. While getting adjusted to the birth control, I had some of the worst anxiety of my life. I’ve now been on this pill for 5 months and my anxiety has eased but it continues to give me horrible mood swings and elevated levels of anxiety. Now for the main reason I am switching off the birth control… the ACNE. Oh my god I’ve never had such horrific acne in my life. Going onto the pill I had some occasional breakouts but nothing severe. Overall, I had pretty clear skin. I started noticing breakouts by my second month, and now on month 5 I have severe cystic acne that will not go away. I stopped taking this pill for about a week to figure out what was causing my acne, and with no surprise, it cleared up very fast. Overall, this pill gave me a lot of anxiety and really bad acne. I am now switching to the Yaz pill in hopes that it will clear my skin while also protecting me from pregnancy. DO NOT take this pill Read More Read Less

So I'm finishing my first month and I'm emotionally drained. My anxiety increased significantly, I recently had a panic attack first one in a great while. I go through periods I feel sad and just not me. Weight gain maybe slight but I just feel like I'm way more bloated and I hold on to water. I do notice my hair falling out more, but that could be just a yearly cycle. I don't really have a sex drive since I'm feeling all those negative emotions.I'm so torn. I know I should give more time for my body to adjust, but the way this makes me feel I don't know if it's worth it. I suppose to take it to slow down my endo ( I have a more silent type- where I don't really experience sev. cramps), but no one can tell me how effective this or any pill is in doing so. I just want to feel normal, and past month is just one big blur. Reading other people experiences makes me wanna cry, because I can relate so much. Read More Read Less

I know birth control is different for everyone but I have never felt so crazy in my life! I was breaking out horribly after having an IUD removed. I started on Lo lo fe but my insurance wouldn’t cover it and my cystic acne was the worst it’s ever been so my Dr switched me to Junel so I could skip the off week and avoid the breakouts that come with my period. I got my period twice the first month. And again the second month after I took the pill in the afternoon vs the morning like I usually did. By the end of my third pack I literally felt like I was losing my mind. I couldn’t sleep due to my mind and heart rate racing. I would go from full on freak out creating false scenarios in my head to totally drained and crying uncontrollably for no reason at all. My Dr recommended I stick it out and give it more time but I have stopped taking this completely since it literally made me manic. I have never had any kind of anxiety or depression in my life so this was all new for me. It may work for you but if you have any anxiety or feelings of depression I would stop it immediately!Read More Read Less

Worst birth control pill ever. I was on Junel for about 6 months and went off of it one week ago after reading all of these reviews. The first few months were fine, but the last two months I was on it were HORRIBLE. Here are all the side effects I experienced which led to my decision to stop it. I had horrible anxiety and depression and couldn't figure out what was causing it. I felt like I was going crazy and didn't feel like myself at all. My anxiety was causing heart palpitations that lasted over a month. I was also way more emotional than I normally am. I suffer from headaches and migraines but take medication for them, however, I was getting them almost daily the last two months. It was awful. In addition to that, my face broke out so bad. I decided to read reviews to see if that was the reason I was experiencing all of these things. After reading so many reviews, I felt like I could relate to so many of them and felt less crazy about how I had felt the last month or two. Needless to say I stopped the pill the next day and I'm already starting to feel better. My mental health and overall health is way more important to me. I wish I would have read these reviews sooner, but so glad that I eventually did. Read More Read Less

I am now 50 and started taking this at 48 to assist with Heavy Bleeding during perimenopausal symptoms. I was admitted into the hospital because I had blood clots in my leg and one in my right lung due to this medication. If I had known that it wasn't recommended for women over 37..I would not have taken it

protected and unprotected, i haven’t gotten pregnant. june’s was my first birthcontrol (i’m still on it but thinking ab trying something else) and i’ve been on it for almost 2yrs now. at first it was the only medication i was taking at the time. my moods were content and my skin was pretty healthy w/ good complexion. now ik one of the biggest worries about birthcontrol is weight loss/gain. i promise u tho that each one will effect everyone differently. personally junel, for the most part made my weight content, but i had a little weight loss here and there. after about 1/2 yr of being on it, i then got prescribed with an antidepressant and then the weightloss got out of control. as of now i’m trying to gain weight in the right places and looking into higher doses of estrogen. overall, without the mix of birthcontrol and antidepressant, i think my experience was really good. Gave me worse acne then when I was on cryselle, bloating, and weird spotting sometimes after sex, along with barely getting a period or none at all. Which might be fine for some people, however I am sexually active and need that reassurance that I wasn’t pregnant. This medication also gives me really sore breast and nipples every month, also making it feel like pregnancy symptoms or cancer! What a roller coaster, glad I am getting off. I started this medication instead of cryselle in hopes it would help with my sex drive and it didn’t help at all. Read More Read Less
