I was really nervous to try this after seeing all the awful side effects people have had, but I've just begun my fifth month and haven't noticed anything at all. No weight gain, mood swings, nothing. I would recommend that people give it a go because if you think about it, the only people who are really going to be motivated to review are most likely those who hated it, so the online rating is alm...

Well, the best I can say is that this drug has done what it's supposed to do. I haven't gotten pregnant since I started using it, but that's all I can say for the positives. To name a few of the issues this drug has given me: headaches/migraines with increased frequency, severe abdominal pains, nausea, mood swings, extremely strange periods, chest pains, tender breasts, and very frequent shortness...

This has been one of the worst birth control a I have tried. I've been on this one for two months and I've started having symptoms of depression and polar moods. It does help with not getting pregnant but on the other hand the mood swings it brings with it, helps just as well. My boyfriend says I have been a lot more sensitive lately and has to walk on egg shells.

This is my first BC pill I ever started and after seeing all these reviews, I have no idea why it's the total opposite of what I've been experiencing. I always take it at 10pm and the morning after I took my first pill, I felt a bit nauseous, but after I took some advil, it went away, and I haven't experienced any bad side effects ever since. Sometimes my breasts do get tender before periods, but they aren't as swollen as they used to get before the pill. My periods were very heavy and lasted 7-9 days, but now its so light and short (3-4 days). I've been sexually active since I began using and haven't gotten pregnant. I normally get moody around my period and I didn't feel like it got any worse when I started using this pill. I haven't gained any weight from using and now that its been a year since I started, I gained some recently, but I don't think it had to do anything with this since I changed my diet and have been trying to gain weight for a really long time. It works great for me and I will continue to use it.Read More Read Less

At 23, this was my first BC pill. I was skeptical at first because I was losing weight and I did not want it to slow my progress. I am currently on my 5th pack, no pregnancy, but the hormonal acne and the mood swings are absurd. I never experienced acne in my life and at the end of pack one- boom- pizza face status. My doctor didn't believe me as they prescribe this to people with severe acne and suggested Proactiv- just no. I also experienced the worse nausea of my life during pack one, so I switched to taking the pill at 8 pm and it resided around the middle of pack two. I also experienced a weird mid-cycle period during pack three with cramps that would take my breath away. Maybe an increase in sex drive? It has slowed my weight loss and caused several emotional flare-ups as well as an increase in tiny little facial hairs. No real spotting, but the cramps are worse while on my period than before taking BC. It may work for you- everyone is different, but here is my experience. My doctor is switching me to OrthoCyclen next month (because while everything else has regulated itself, I cannot continue with the constant acne) and the reviews are just as horrifying. Best of luck!Read More Read Less

When i started taking this form of birth control, i noticed changes almost immediately. i felt nauseus alot and my breasts felt sore and tender every now and then. My libido dropped a lot and everyday it seemed harder to smile. i became incredibly depressed and practically went crazy. i was indenial and didnt want to believe this pill was making me like this but i started to notice a pattern everytime i got my period. i was happier on my period and i actually laughed and smiled. weird right? once my period ended and i went back to the hormonal pills, that was when i had suicidal thoughts and those were the days i would cry over absolutely nothing. props to my boyfriend for not leaving me somehow. I also gained a ton of weight and i felt bloated all the time. Overall awful experience. i am now very afraid to try other forms of birth control thanks to this. Read More Read Less

I have only been on Junel Fe for two days, but I am extremely nauseous. Birth control is the last option to treat my chronic migraine and the gynecologist at Family Planning said if this does not help, then no birth control will help my migraine and I will need to come off the pill. I do not understand this.

I have only been taking this birth control for a little while, but I haven't had much trouble with it at all. Before, I was very moody and it seems as though this bc has leveled my moods out. Nothing has happened to my libido, and I haven't gotten pregnant. I did gain a little bit of weight, but after about a month, the weight I gained went away. My acne has cleared up almost entirely, and my cramping has gone down. I'm very happy with this birth control.

My doctor put me on this medication last year as I didn't have a normal period routine. I also was taking this as birth control but over the time that I took it, I noticed that my mood changed very drastically. I would get angry and anxious for no apparent reason. This caused my husband and I to have fights as I would get irritated for every little thing. Although my period started coming regularly, it caused other worse things in my life. I was more emotional, had mood changes and gained alot of weight. I would not recommend this medication if you don't need it. Read More Read Less

This is effective for a birth control method. I did the Sunday start - and took it 5 days within the start of my period so it was effective immediately. I was only on it for 3 weeks & here is my review --- I did experience high breakouts more than normal, super bloated, I did gain some weight, I wanted to cry all the time over the smallest things, I have anxiety and right when I popped the pill - I got immediate anxiety symptoms. I did get a little depressed, my mood changed & I could tell it effected the true personality I have. I also got blood taken and this pill actually stressed my liver out! If I hadn't of gotten blood drawn, there is no telling how this would have effected me in the long run & what my liver would be like. My doctors told me to stop taking it immediately. So, if you begin this drug, get routine blood work to make sure the dosage is okay for you. I will not be using Junel or any of its sister drugs again. My short experience was enough for me & I am officially done. I do not recommend this BC to anyone. And, be firm with your doctor if they think this is a good start for you - ITS NOT. Doctors say that "BC effects everyone differently" Well, every review on here is accurate - I had every symptom everyone else had.Read More Read Less

Well - I've been on this birth control for over two years. I thought this pill was totally fine for me until everything started to change in the past 5 months. When I first started taking this pill I had no breakthrough bleeding at all and got my period exactly when I was supposed to and it was super light. As time has progressed my period's have gotten heavier as well as I have awful cramps the night before I even get my period! My acne has cleared although I do get the occasional breakouts, my boobs grew from a B to a C, and I do believe I lost a few pounds on this pill. BUT besides that, this pill has been pretty awful. Sure, it protected me from pregnancy and for the most part my period was very stable, but I have never felt as CRAZY as I do on this pill. I am irritated by just about anything, and when I start getting frustrated my frustration level is through the roof to the point where it takes me a long time to calm down! I feel as though my body has taken over me. I have plenty of mood swings, cry over the stupidest things, and have gotten awful awful headaches when I used to never get headaches before this pill. I also have no sex drive what so ever and sex honestly feels like a chore when I used to have a high sex drive. Sometimes kissing even feels like a chore and it's not my boyfriend. I have finally gotten the courage to switch birth control's as I am hoping the mood swings go down, my acne stays clear, and I don't gain any weight. I am switching to Yasmin at the end of this pack!Read More Read Less

Junel Fe was my first experience with birth control and I started taking it a few months before I got married. It worked very well, I was slightly moody for a while (which may have just been stress from planning a wedding), and I gained a few pounds, but I'd also switched from a highly active job to a desk job at the same time, so it was expected. I wish I was still taking it, but I had what appears to have been a mini-stroke in September. Doctors have no idea what caused it except that I was on Junel Fe. My hematologist is pretty sure it didn't cause my TIA, but I had to switch to an IUD just in case. I liked Junel Fe. It worked for me, was easy to take, and I didn't have any major issues with it, although it was nearly impossible to lose weight.Read More Read Less

I was on Junel Fe for 4 months and although it did the job of preventing pregnancy it mademe nuts. by the 2nd month I was having terrible mood swings and I would cry at the drop of a feather. it almost ruined my relationship with my boyfriend. It also gave me 2 yeast infections one I still currently have so I recconmend that this birth control not be used. I'm only 16 and it was my first bc. also I've never written a review on anything so this is to show you how much this birth control sucks.

Women and girls, please drop this pill if you are experiecing depression, anxiety, dizziness, mood swings, and altogether bouts of unhappiness like me. Talk to your doctor but do not dismiss the fact that these HORMONES do mess with your body and are to be taken very seriously! I don't wish the last 6 months I experienced upon anyone. Know your body ladies and get yourself help if you need it by switching!

This is my third birth control pill that I have been on and have been taking it for 4 months. Loestrin FE was my first at age 16, then Ortho Tri-cyclen Lo at 18, and now Junel FE 1.5/30 at 20. I have a tendency to produce excess body hair (black hair on lower abdomen which I get bi-weekly electrolysis for) and this medication has made it so much worse. I am now finding hairs on my neck and chin. It is very embarrassing to have to deal with this body hair at age 20. I recently have gotten back into shape and feel as though I cannot wear a bikini because I am no longer comfortable. Junel FE is a high androgen birth control pill (higher male hormones vs. female hormones). Therefore, it may cause symptoms such as body hair and acne. I would not take this pill if you have the same tendencies as I. On top of that, it has made me incredibly moody around the time of my period and I get slight cystic acne on my cheeks exactly 2 weeks before my period. However, my periods are incredibly light and I have minimal cramping. I will be switching to a birth control with higher estrogen levels to hopefully solve my hair problem. Crossing my fingers that it is not a sign of PCOS.Read More Read Less

For preventing pregnancy, Junel Fe 1.5 has worked 100% so far. Other than that, nothing good comes from this drug. I've been crazy and emotional, one minute i'll be happy and the next i'll be crying for no reason whatsoever. I don't stress much and i'm pretty carefree, but i've been feeling like everything is awful lately when things are great. The period has been light and short, but the 3 weeks around it are awful. I also get random dizzyness where it feels like my brain is spinning and i suddenly become very nauseous. I also have NO SEX DRIVE at all. I barely have sex with my boyfriend at all anymore and when I do it feels like a chore and cannot climax. DO NOT TAKE JUNELRead More Read Less

I have been taking Junel FE 1.5/30 for four months now and my experience has been positive so far. I have been sexually active throughout the four months that I have been using it and it has worked for me (no pregnancy). It's so convenient once you get into the routine of taking it everyday. I take the pill in a very timely manner (I take it at 7:45am every day without fail) and I have not experienced any side effects as far as I can tell. At first I thought it might be making me bloated, but I realized I was gaining weight from overeating in college. Now that I have graduated and I am eating less, I have noticed some weight loss. So I don't think I have any kind of negative side effects. And after using it for four months and having good results, I just wanted to give it a good review :)Read More Read Less

I switched from Kariva to this after Kariva got discontinued. I'm on my third month of this pill & it has done nothing for me.. My acne got worse and I've gained weight. This month, my period came before the end of the pack.. which was annoying, yet I've still had the usual cramps & migraines since then and I'm on the sugar pill week. I have one more month of these pills and then I will definitely be switching.

I was a bit concerned when I switched to this at first. I'm sure all of these negative reviews would make anyone uneasy. Anyway, I just finished my first pack on junel. So far, short periods, lighter periods, and no cramping. I did notice breast tenderness when I first switched. I also noticed a slight increase in appetite and maybe even put on a couple pounds. I'm fortunate enough to be able to afford some weight. However, I really didn't want those extra pounds so I would say that the slight weight gain is my worst side effect. I've also been a bit more emotional but that hasn't really affected me much. Overall, a pretty good pill. We'll see what happens in a few months with this one. Try it out for yourself. It might just work for you. :)Read More Read Less

Horrible side effects from this pill. I have been on this for 2 years and begged to be moved to another pill. I was offered the nuvaring only but I was not comfortable with wearing the ring. With that said, my doc would not switch me. I HATE this pill. I have mood swings like a mental paitent and I have no libido - not good for my hubby so prolly thinks I am having an affair. I get NO period at all any more- this took about a year...thought I was pregnant - but no- just this pill stops you being a woman! Having NO period is NOT GOOD and a side effect that should tell you to get off of the pill, it is a sign of major hormonal imbalance. I am getting off of this for good and my husband is getting a vesectomy. This is the healthiest alternative for us. I have had other side effects too- horrible acne in my 30s...discomfort, cramps and gall stones- my gall bladder needs removal. The mood swings and libido depletion are my worst complaints. GET OFF OF IT if this is happening to you, please.Read More Read Less
