I went in for a throat scope and my bp went high so they gave me this stuff in my i.v., then when it didn't come down enough, they gave it to me again. I had a 15 min. proce4dure and by the time I was in recovery I was already sick, nauseaous, face, hands and feet were starting to swell. They still sent me home and I thought I was going to die!! Couldn't keep anything down the whole day, headache, burning up, swollen like a sausage but nothing was done for me!! Finally started feeling better the next day but has taken 3 wks and still not fully recovered. TERRIBLY drug to take-don't even try it. Never so sick in my life and I am 67! Read More Read Less

Have been given this drug through IV on four separate occasions and each time it's sucked for me big time. The first time I was having an emergency cesarean and while waiting my BP was out of control, after this drug was administered to me I had the worst migraine ive ever had and needed an epidural just to help with the pain. Second time BP was 275/127 and again worst migraine with vomiting, extreme light sensitivity to where no lights where on for four days in my room and sound sensitivity so bad I had to cover my ears when people talkies to me, also was given morphine to cope with the pain it caused. I guess I'm allergic but for some reason the doctors always want to use hydralazine, I hate this drug. I've actually started listing it as my one and only drug allergy.Read More Read Less

I complained enough that the nurse replaced herself and another nurse came in and she consulted with a doctor. It took them 2.5 hours and several other meds to bring me down to normal. I would say use precaution with this drug. I also felt like my feet were itching severely - it might have been an alergic reaction.Read More Read Less

My Dad, who's 78, was given this in the hospital. He pressure drop severly and he broke out in hives and a fever. He was so hot, he said, it felt like he was burning from the inside out. Later, that night his was found on the floor by the nurses and thought his was home.

The medicine was given to my mother who is 82 years old, upon taking this medicine her blood pressure drop to a dangerous level, she lost control of her body functions and once ended up in the closet babbling incoherently, then again in the hospital she was found on the floor, she was also incoherent when this occurred. After much conplaining to her doctor, she was finally taken off of the medicine; until a couple of day ago when she went into the hospital and was given the medicine again (her doctor had not noted on her chart that she was not to recieve that medicine again)on Wednesday evening I told the nursing staff taking care of my mother not to give her that medicine, but at 6:00 a.m. Thursday morning she was given the medicine. Saturday afternoon she had a seizure. My mother has never had a seizure before in her life, and according the the doctors the medicine did not cause my mother to have the seizure. I don't really feel comfortable with that, seeing that the drug companies conduct their own studies, and are not obligated to reveil the true results until something bad happens to someone. All those who doctors are recommending usage of the medicine should BE AWARE!!! all the side effects are not known, and we are being used as ginnie-pigs, watch your loved ones carefully and any change should be acted on immediatelyRead More Read Less
