After 6 wks of agonizing pain of my right leg, I finally had insurance and could go to doctor. He diagnosed trochanter bursitis and prescribed Indocin, 50mg, 3x/day. First pill that night (Th) and I felt relief. All doses F and Sa and feeling good. Took all doses Su, including a late afternoon walk with the dog of a mile, one shot of vanilla vodka on ice, and a small cigar - smoke about 4-5 a year. Around 9pm last night, I saw my feet and ankles were swollen, I had a stiff neck and a headache like a band around my head. This morning, swelling is pretty much gone, but headache/neck pain never went away, my whole body feels swollen, I feel REALLY tired, and mild nausea. Leg really painful, too. Checked here (WebMD) and saw these are all side effects. Now I'm waiting for my doctor's office to open to see what I'm to do now!!!Read More Read Less

I was prescribed this medication for an inflamed elbow, thought to be possible gout. The elbow returned to normal fairly quickly. What was a surprise is the effect this drug had on my chronically painful knees. One pill quells the pain and the effect seems to last for days.

Started taking 25mg 3 X day on Friday, today is Tuesday & no relief as of yet? Going to speak to my Dr soon if condition doesn't improve. None of the side effects others reported, but my big toe still hurts!

I had alot of inflammation and pain in both feet, right shoulder and wrists. Blood work showed my RA factor to be very high. I was placed on a low dose of prednisone until I could see a rheumatologist in April. Because of my work the pain kept getting worse until one morning when I put my feet on the floor I couldnt stand to put my weight on them to walk. I made it to the emergency room and the Dr. there put me on carafate to coat my stomach and intestines and indocin for the pain and inflammation. It has relieved most of the pain in 24 hours and my feet and hands are much better. My shoulder still hurts if I try to move it out or up but it is better too. I am thankful for these 2 meds. and the dr. who prescribed them for me!Read More Read Less

Indocin took away the pain from bursitis in my hip. It was highly effective. On the down side, I experienced side effects. These included: nausea, dizziness, and headache. So I had to stop taking it.

40 years ago I had debilitating long-term lower back pain and was told it was a degenerated spine. I also had cold sores every month on my lips and nose- causing some scarring and pain. After using Indocin both disappeared. I am 75 now and have not had a recurring bout of either. It just can't be a coincidence.

I took the indomethacin (50mg) a few weeks ago for a painful knee. It worked great. I had a flare-up with my knee today and took a pill this morning (w/ food) and had a bad reaction. I got very nauseous and dizzy. It felt as though I was having a panic attack. I recommend you take your first dose of this drug at nighttime (as I did a few weeks ago) to see how you tolerate it.

I'm 47 yrs old and this is my first bout with gout. At first I thought I was having a Charley Horse in my foot until I realized it wouldn't go and I couldn't walk. The listed side effects had me scared to take this med. However it worked in just a few hours and I have noticed weight loss since taking it.

jI had a sciatic nerve attack, causing EXTREME pain,to the point I couldn't get out of bed. I went to hospital, they gave me 3 shots of morphine, which had no effect on the pain. They wrote an Rx for Indomethacin, which easily re- lieved almost all the pain for 10 hours. I should add I tried Ibuprofen and Naproxin 1st, neither had any effect at all.For the next 2 weeks of my Sciatica episode, the Indocin faithfully relieved my pain every time. This was severe pain that 3 doses of Morphine had no effect on! There are many side effects listed in my drug book for Indocin, but I had none whatsoever. It had a very "clean" effect, less side effects than Ibuprofen. This may not be true if you use it for months, though. But for short term use,you cant beat it.It easily out-performs the strongest narcotics! I can definitely recommend it!Was a Godsend for me!Read More Read Less

After I had the catheter removed, I felt a burning pain upon urination. I decided to take Indomethacin to relieve the inflamation in the urethra. It relieved the pain after only 3 times at 8 hour intervals at 50mg.

Definitely helps the pain. It makes me sleepy and not very alert. Wife said my speech was slurred after 2-3 days of taking this medicine. The side effects are outweighed by the relief though.

Acid reflux is increased and some jitteriness and weird feeling. I got the prescription the 3rd day of the attack and it helped immediately although the attack was on the decline at the time. I will carry this with me at all times.
