Effective in stopping a dry, tickling that causes constant coughing as soon as I try to sleep. Need only to take it for a couple of days during a cold.

After 4 doses I had breathing problems and quit taking it. Won't ever take it again.

the only side effect for me (female, 75 y,o,) was feeling nausea for a little while and a headache, which was not nearly as bad as the pain from coughing and keeping me up almost all night. My biggest concern is to be aware of the addiction that can come with staying on this medication too long and any interaction with my other medications I have to take daily for my heart, water pills for retention problems, and blood thinner

I developed a terrible cough with the flu and finally went in because the cough was getting painful. This stuff worked very well. As mentioned by others, the taste is pretty rough, but it works so who cares! My one comment though is that nowhere either on the labeling on my bottle, the paperwork with it, or on this page, does it tell the quantity of meds that it contains! I finally found somewhere else that suggested it might be 10mg/100mg per 5mL does... but still not quite sure what the details are and I like to know what I am taking.Read More Read Less

This is the only cough medicine that can stop me from coughing, whatever my ailment. It was over the counter Cheracol, when I was a kid. When it became prescription, my parents tried all the OTC medicines they could find, none worked for me. I had bronchitis last year, it was torture for 3 days, until I could get my prescription filled.

I began taking this medication at night almost a week ago and it has not been effective at all. I am coughing more and haven't had a good night's sleep. I am at work as I write this and trying to keep my eyes open.

Lessened coughing up phlegm so able to rest and sleep better. It is day two and hoping that tomorrow I can go back to my routine, albeit at a slower pace until completely well again.

Dries out the back of my throat and makes me cough more. Not effective at all. Probably better to take an OTC medication.

I really have no idea why you would combine a cough suppressant with an expectorant. Someone help me understand the logic here. Cough is much worse than before and I can't sleep. I do know that I'm not very sensitive to opioids so maybe that's the issue but this is the first and last night I'm taking this.

Diagnosed having bacterial bronchitis. Terrible cough with thick phlegm. I spent 5 days sitting/sleeping in the same chair. After taking this medication my cough would stay the same or get worse. It was a clear liquid mixed at the local pharmacy.

I was diagnosed with flu, cough, fever and congestion. Cheratussein AC really stopped the cough & helped me sleep However, DO NOT take more than prescribed!! My husband thought a little more would last a little longer at night. It didn't. I became very listless, dizzy & scared!
