My neurologist calls my condition benign tremors. Started with a very low dosage to adjust to the drug. I've been on a 100 mg dosage for over two years. The drugs works very well. No tremors and no side effects. Every drug should work this well.

I have been using this medication since 1963. I have to take 250 mg three times a day. This drug has controlled my seizures since 1963. The only thing I find wrong with this drug is that the sun bothers my eyes but wearing sunglasses helps. When first taking this drug was sleepy. Now I am concerned with the BP medication I have just started taking this year and the reaction of those medications with my Primidone. I had to take vitamins for my blood. When first beginning this medicine was allowing medicine to get into my system. Then became active with four normal (now adult) children and played and coached sports. Read More Read Less

I have been using Mysoline for almost 47 years as it is the ONLY medication that controls my seizures as generics cause me to have more seizures. The pharmaceutical company that manufactures it did change about a year ago, but make sure you have your neurologist mark your scripts DAW for the Mysoline. It is not in most "chosen" formulary lists for insurance companies but can be obtained by any pharmacy and comes in different strengths.

I have been using Primidone for some 4 years. I started with 100 mg per day and gradually increased to 300 mg per day. The latter dosage seemed to have subdued my tremors at the time (about 2 years ago). The dosage was then reduced to 250 mg per day. In the last year, this dosage has not held back the tremors. Thus, it was tried in conjunction with Inderal(10 mg), but the latter aggrevated by bronquial problem and was suspended. The tremors are getting worse with age (now 68 years old).

I have taken only one dose on two occasions, about a month apart. The only reason I tried it the second time was because I thought I must have been crazy the first time. Each time it sent me on a three day tilt-a-whirl ride - dizzy, loss of balance, nausea, headache, double vision, falls, lack of concentration, drifting (I spent two hours on one page of the newspaper), very drowsy, couldn't work - pure hell. Never again.

I have been on Mysoline for about 6 years. I started with 50 mgs. twice a day. I now take 100mgs. three times a day. It helps some but diffinately does not control the tremors. I was on beta blockers until my heart rate dropped to low. I tried topamax, but for me it was awful.

I am taking this med prescribed by my neurologist. Every time I took it for a week before increasing the dosage to 100mg, I got headaches almost every day. Now, I seem to be really cluzy (can't walk straight, almost trip, fallen twice). The tremors only go away in the morning when I take the med. It wears off by about 4pm. I had to be put back on propranolol to try and stop the headaches. This condition really sucks. Sorry if that offends anyone. I am so tired of shaking and I am getting depressed over it. I can't even imagine it getting worse (the tremors).Read More Read Less

I have essential tremors in my hands, spreading to my legs, and I have been taking mysoline prescribed from a military facility. It has been mildly effective, and we are working on titrating it up, but I am experiencing headaches with this one. I am unable to take Beta Blockers for this (diabetic).

After taking the initial dosage as prescribed, I almost immediately went into a sleep pattern for 3 days, not being able to stand, suffering severe vertigo and nausea. It took my body almost a week to fully return to normal. My physician advised that I cease taking the medication,

For essential tremor, start with 50mg at bedtime. If this dose is effective, stay with it. If only partially effective, consider taking a second 25-50 mg dose in the morning. Coffee/Coke/Tea drinkers will notice a difference by drinking only non-caffeinated beverages. Beware of "decaffeinated" coffees...they stay contain a generous portion of caffeine.
