The only part of this treatment that I dont like is that I cannot give it to myself. This medication pulls me out of a seizure before I have a big one. Someone else has to give it to me and since I am in college no it is not fun having to go to the hopital all the time because your friends dont feel comfortable giving it to you. It works great though.

My 11 month old son takes this for what we believe to be seizures. He stops breathing and shaking and sometimes changes colors. One night, he had about 7 episodes so my wife and I decided to administer the shot. He came out of the episode a minute later and hasn't had one since he was given the medication.

I am fortunate to have an advance warning of the onset of a seizure, and so am able to administer it to myself. It's a bit awkward, and would be much more awkward if the seizure began in public, but I am able to manage it. I find it very effective, and no problem to administer as long as I push the syringe slowly and stay mindful of the need to keep the tip as deep as I can.

I've used Diastat when my son has had seizures. This medicine normally works within 1 minute of administration. However, recently we used it and it failed. My son, who normally would have ONE seizure, needing diastat to stop it, had 5 and the diastat did nothing. We need emergency care. I have gotten it filled again and, if need be, will try it once again simply because of the number of times it has worked for us in the past.
