Used last two months. Taken baby asprin one-half hour before take Slo-niacin. Then eat bananna. Take Slo-niacin 500mg. At first slight tingle. Now experience no after affects. Will see dr. in November. Taking natural Niacin is so better than any statin. Will post results after dr. visit. Did take niacin one day without food. Got red all over and prickle feeling but went away after a half hour. Sti...

I have NEVER been more 100% satisfied with a dietary supplement in my entire life than with Slo-Niacin. I take the highest dosage which is 750 MG tablets - One tablet daily. I have been using Slo-Niacin for YEARS now. Yes it gives me flushing symptoms all over my body once in a while but after a short period that all goes away and I feel normal with no redness on my skin anymore. :)

I've taking this product twice a day well over 10 years with excellent results. Triglycerides are below 100 and HDLs up 30 points. I do experience flushing on rare occasions, but downing 16 oz of water (maybe a little more), makes the flushing dissipates in 5-10 minutes. As recommended a good diet and exercises makes it easier to tolerate. Best of all, I got off statins.

I just started. Day two and 3 and half hours after taking I'm covered in a rash head to toes. Feels like bee stings and somewhat itchy too. I'm scared this is an allergic reaction. Will call dr in the am. I'm skinny and exercise 6 days a week and inherited bad cholesterol. Trying not to go on statins.

Started off with total cholesterol at 320 and Triglycerides at 1400. I have been taking 1500mg of slo niacin every day for eight months. My total cholesterol is currently 140 and my triglycerides are 175. Yes I get flushing spells once or twice a week, but that is certainly worth the benefits I have received.

Been taking this at 250mg 2x daily for 2 weeks now. The flushing and headaches are a drag, which makes me not want to do anything but lie in bed with a fan on me. I am type 2 diabetic as well so it is making my bs go up every day. I can't take Asprin due to kidney issues and Tylenol just doesn't cut it to help the flushing. This is the last resort to get my triglycerides down. If I see results by the end of the month, I will continue to take it and just deal with the side effects.

I took my first 500MG pill and 1 hour later I was scarlet red from head to toe, with tingling feeling all over, itchy like I had the hives, worst hot flash feeling, this lasted for 30 min and then gradually subsided only to return 5 hours later! I'm not sure I want to take it again.

This stuff hasn't changed my cholesterol at all. I experience an occasional flush--which allegedly shouldn't happen with slow release niacin--but it only lasts maybe a half hour. Most disturbing, however, is that I often see a completely intact tablet in my morning bowel movement, 24 hours after taking the pill. This is ridiculous, because it means that except for those times I get the flush, the pills are not dissolving! No wonder my cholesterol hasn't changed.

After taking just one slo niacin I broke out with severe itching and flushing lasting for several hours. I then developed terrible mouth sores with painful gums and gum bleeding. It has been a week and a half and still having mouth problems although they have gotten somewhat better. I had been taking regular niacin without problems. Won't take Slo niacin again.

I have been taking the Slo-Niacin for several months now. Titrated the dose up to 2000mg daily. I experienced some flushing at the beginning but 81mg ASA and a snack (banana or applesauce) prior to taking the medication alleviated the symptoms. Recently I have experienced an itching/burning/tingling sensation all over my body. There is no rash or redness present but the itching is quite bothersome. I have contacted my physician.

Just started SLO-NIACIN, 5 days now. Doing a small amount Applesauce prior to taking 250mg at night before going to bed. Been having strong headaches since the second day. Taking aspirin for the headaches. Some very slight toe cramps, and some daily diarrhea. I'm willing to put up with some side effects, for my triglycerides to go down - currently at 700. So I need to get that way down. Cutting back on fatty foods and increase my treadmill workouts to 35 minutes a day for 4-5 days weekly. Will continue to take unless next blood test shows no improvement. We'll comment more at that time.Read More Read Less

We'll find out next week if it increases my good chlor, which is 39 (low). Started at 250, now taking 500, per day. Flusing sometimes, but it doesn't last for long. The more problematic side effect is dizziness when reclining, especially when in bed. May cut back to 250 daily if MD recommends that.

Take 500 Mg. Has lowered my total cholesterol and increased my good and lowered the bad. A Doctor recommended that some fat be taken with the Slo Niacin so I take it with a t. of p-nut butter and have not experienced flushing.
