I have been on this medication for 3 weeks and I am very please so far. Only side affect is the swelling of my left wrist, which is tolerable. My readings have improved immensely. I feared taking any kind of insulin and did not want to do it, also was my fear that I would gain weight, but actually I have lost 5 pounds in the three weeks that I have been on it. I also exercise regularly. The nee...
I've been talking for 6 month constantly increasing dosage now at 210 units per day. Have constant weight gain and testing this morning was 289.

This is not about the insulin, it is about the flex pen versus the flex touch. Why oh why did you change? The flex touch was so much better than the flex pen. The flex touch was spring loaded, the flex pen is not.

The Levimir Touch was a quality delivery system. Never had a single issue. Have no clue why it was replaced by this stupid “flex pen” is junk and is dangerous. Twice now the needle has broken inside me. Tonight I bled profusely. It takes too much pressure to inject. There needs to be a recall. I am notifying Mayo Clinic to not prescribe this cheap junk. Go back to the flex touch! Or suffer lawsuits including one from me,

I have used Levemir touch for years. Loved the ease of use. Hate the new flexpen! Difficult and jerky to use. Need both hands to stabilize. Painful! Will be looking for a replacement. So disappointed they went cheaper.

I’ve been on levemir flex touch pen for years. For some reason I was made to switch to Flexpen and I do not like it at all! The pen seems to jam, I have to try a new injection site mid dose. It’s very hard to press the injection button. It’s cheaply made and I’m concerned I’m not getting the proper amount. I want my flex touch pen back.

I hate the levemir pen! The pen feels cheaply made to me and and jammed up more than once with me. Not sure if I am getting the correct dose of insulin. I switched jobs with new insurance and this was the preferred brand with my work insurance!!! Sure do miss Lantus. Levemir pen is not dependable.

After 11 years of success with Lantus, the insurance company has forced me to switch to Levemir. I was taking 40 units twice a day of Lantus, and a sliding scale of 0-5 units before meals of Humalog--most days I needed none. My A.M. fasting blood sugars averaged between 85-95, with an A1C of 6.After 11 years of success with Lantus, the insurance company has forced me to switch to Levemir. I was taking 40 units twice a day of Lantus, and a sliding scale of 0-5 units before meals of Humalog--most days I needed none. My A.M. fasting blood sugars averaged between 85-95, with 3-6.7. Then about a month ago I was forced to switch to Lememir. Now my average A.M. fasting blood sugars have been 120-150. After meals glucometer readings have reached as high as 277. I have even cut down more on the minimal carbs I take in, and have increased cardio on my workouts. To compensate, I'm currently up to 55 unites of Lememir twice a day and have to compensate with an enormous increase in Humalog: 15-20 units before each meal. I've only seen one glucometer reading under 110 since starting this stupid insulin, and that was after I'd skipped two meals because I was sick. I despise the insurance company for pulling this switch on me...just because it makes some of their fat pockets even fatter--they care ZIP for the wellfare of the drug recipients. My doctor is currently in the 2nd phase of insurance company over-rides, which I am told could take up to a month and then be denied again. In the meantime, my opthamologist warns me that any blood sugars over 150 could result in further retinal bleeding. I WISH SOMEONE COULD HELP ME TODAY!!! I also have my husband's transplanted kidney to protect! The transplant follow-up team were the ones who'd started me on Lantus 11 years ago. They had warned against ever switching any of the meds. Too bad they hadn't told the insurance company that! PS: I've also had mechanical problems with pens; have been gaining weight from the extra insulin.Read More Read Less

My husband had been on this insulin for 3 weeks with no reduction in blood sugar. He takes 20 units in the morning and 6 units novolog before meals and blood sugar still running 300's.I had called the drug company when I could not inject the medicine even after changing the needle. I had to use a regular insulin syringe to draw it up and inject. The flex pen needle is too small could be the reason for low effectiveness. Works better with the regular insulin syringe. Why is this flexpen being issued even after so many people dissatisfied?Read More Read Less

Taking 70 units per day. Have never skipped a day in years, and only suppose Levemir is working. Have been supplementing with Humalog. Am constantly hungry, experiencing swollen abdomen, diarrhea, and stomach pains. Cannot find out what the average dosage is, or how much constitutes an overdose. Overdose amount is UNPUBLISHED. That is terrifying to me.

Have had good results for lowering blood sugar counts. Have a question about a possible side effect. I have had a bitter taste in the back of my throat past the tongue. Notice it mostly when eating a meal. Symptom does not last long. No pain from symptom, but wondered if this new drug could cause this.

I've lost 60lbs, going from 135 to 70lbs. I'm 19 and 5ft 4. This drug almost killed me. Was switched to it a year ago and have had nausea, chronic severe diarrhea, hair lose etc. have been in and out of hospital 30 plus times this year for dka. Doctors found nothing to explain my condition . Even had gallbladder removed. Back on lantus now thanks to my father researching and finding that almost all my symptoms matched those of levemir. My Dr switched me to levemir stating it was better then lantus. Smh. I've been type 1 since 6 years of age. Slowly recovering from the effects of levemir. And just to clear things up . The side effects were gradual at first. Started off with belly cramps, feeling weak, restlessness, weight loss , nausea, loss of appetite, hair loss and diarrhea which got to the point of 20 bowel movements a day. I had to wear depends due to not always being able to make it the the bathroom. Read More Read Less

Like many of the reviews, I too am not impressed by this drug. B/c of insurance, had to switch from Lantus -which was working fine - it's sad when they take away drugs that are working -I'll look into fighting insurance. I take 35 units at night, take 1.2+ units of Victoza, and 1000 Metformin at lunch and dinner. I'm in the donut hole and paid over $1000 for Medicine today at Costco. Not to mention, the Levemin flex pen doesn't work at times. I went to doc -told her that I wasn't having good results with Levemir -she was surprised?? A1c was high -very frustrated especially after losing 10 lbs, eating sorta right and dog walking. Why do insurance companies screw with most important thing - our health???Read More Read Less

Type II for a little over 10 years now. Mainly took Metformin (or drugs that contained it) but had major stomach issues even with extended release. Foolishly quite taking all meds for nearly a year but now on Levemir. I inject before bed. Started at 10 units and increased by 3 units until fasting was < 120. It took about 5 days but I stopped at 25 units. I have some itching at injection sites that I will discuss at my next visit. I am 5' 10", 180 pound, and fairly athletic build. I exercised while on Metformin but it didn't help but with Levemir my body's response to working out is insane. Overindulging one evening resulted in a 276 reading. After 30 minutes on my elliptical and 30 minutes of weight training, my post-workout reading was 134... and that's before doing my injection. So far I'm loving Levemir. Read More Read Less

I am having repeated instances of the pen not injecting when pressing the button. Some dosages take several minutes to complete. Thought at first it was my refrigerator was too cold, but even leaving pen out does not help.

My blood sugars have been rising in the past 3 months using Levemir. I've been told that some "batches" are not as good as the rest. I switched to a new pen and my sugars went down dramatically. Has anyone else experienced this and what to do with Levemir that's no good?
