The key to this med is PMDD. Go online, track your symptoms, and talk to your doctor after 2 months of solid tracking. If you don't have PMDD, don't take it. I have PMDD & have had GREAT results with it. It took about three months to completely balance my hormones. But since, my mood is better, cramps are better, brest tenderness & swelling is gone, fatigue is gone. Acne was never an issue w...

I was diagnosed with PCOS a little over 2 years ago just as I turned 18... I was put on Yasmin the higher Dosage and I was having severe cramps to the point where I was balled up on the couch crying, and I was having extremely heavy, (chunky if you will) menstral cycles... My doctor then put me on the lower dosage of Yaz as I need to take this because I need the Estrogen from the Yaz... Yaz has seemed to work for me so far about 6 months or more... I cannot say that the weight gain is fully from taking Yaz as i know my condition PCOS has very much contributed to that... I do not have a hard time sleeping with this medication as I take it with my lunch around 1pm... and as far as the mood swings, they seem to be fairly normal (as normal as they can be) Unfortunately I do not get my cycle normally however, the doctors feel that may be a Glucose problem more than it is the Yaz so overall I would say Yaz has for the most part done what it was supposed to do in my case... I am overall happy with this drug, pains have definetly gone down with the lower dosage...Read More Read Less

Decided to try YAZ after my PMS symptoms have started taking over my life 2 weeks every month and I needed relief. Just after the first pack, I didn't experience many of my normal mental and phsyical PMS symptoms and was very relieved. I do have mild side effects of nausea and dizziness, but I can handle those better than the long list of PMS symptoms I used to have.

I have been taking Yaz for about 5 months now and I see an improvement with my headaches I used to have while on the BC Yasmin. I see no improvement in my cramping, bloated feeling and still feel anxious at times, not severe, but still there. I have gained 10 lbs. in 5 months and I'm not sure if its because of the pill or not. THE CRAMPS ARE BAD! Also, my bleeding has lasted at least 8 or 9 days when on my period (unlike Yasmin which was 5 days), no breakthrough bleeding. Overall, not seeing anything great yet with Yaz!Read More Read Less

I've used Yaz for a year having switched from two other pills. It has kept my skin clean, although I've gained a little bit of weight, I blame it on other factors. Most pills, if not all, can cause weight gain for women, anyway. Periods are light or non-existent.

I was given Yaz after the birth of my child. I tried it for 2 months. It is a horrible drug! I experienced swelling, extreme mood swings, and bleeding (not breakthru, but bleeding like a period) for at least 3 weeks out of the month. I was in the 2nd week of my 3rd pack and after reading the other reviews, I decided to just stop. After a week without this drug, my bleeding has stopped and my mood is leveling out, not to mention I have lost 2 lbs of swelling.

I have had weight gain and never fill full. I have had horrible mood swings and cramps are terrible. I have my period alot longer like 10 days. I didn't have as many problems with my other birth control pill. I gave it 4 months, but my attitude was changing and crying alot and very depressed.

ive been taking yaz for a little over 6months ive had no acne which is a good thing. where i used to get acne right before i got my period. i dont get my period until the last day of the white pills which makes me a little nervous but it is a short period lasts 2-3 days...it hasn't really helped with cramping. i get bad cramps 2-3 days before getting my period. ive gained a little weight. i've had break out bleeding where i wasnt supposed to get my period until a week and a half that made me scared. its happend twice before. overall the pill is okay. i might want to change to something else next time i go see my doctor. I only took this medication for a month and a half and had a horrible experience. My acne worsened and I experienced horrible mood swings. I started experiencing emotional outbursts and excessive crying. I would fixate on small problems to the point where i was not sleeping. This medication was NOT a good fit for me.

I have been on YAZ for almost 2 years. Yaz has cleared up my face. I do not have my period long, however, I usually dont have my period until AFTER the 4 white pills. My fingers, toes and ankle just started swelling this week. I did go up 2 pant sizes and have gained about 20-30 LBS. in the 2 years. I am always eating and never feel full. I have mood swings and cry for no reason as well as argue with people. I have been more depressed the past 8-10 months (more noticeable now). I am always tired and sluggish through the day. I dont have problems sleeping at night with YAZ. I take the pill in the mornings, that may contribute to me not having problems sleeping at night. I was happy when first starting YAZ because I switch from Seasonale and I was breaking out real bad. I did not gain much weight on Seasonale. Read More Read Less

I have been on Yaz for almost 2 years, and I love it. The most important thing is that this the only birth control I'm tried that doesn't contribute to my migraines. My periods are shorter and lighter so I have been white pants on my period without any worries.

I agree with the other user. This is my second month on this pill and I could not figure out why I have not been sleeping for 3 weeks now, been getting 2-3 hours of sleep a night which has not been good, going back to my other pills and has not helped with mood swings in fact worse

UPDATE: Beginning Nov. 2007 I started this medicine for severe PMDD. Initially I was happy that I was not bothered by side effects. My 1st period on this was a nightmare. I was so hoping it would help, if only a little to begin with, needless to say I ruined Thanksgiving w/ my family. On pack 2 now (wk 2) and in past wk I have felt SO tired and not been sleeping, serious insomnia and waking once did fall asleep. I just came back & read that these may be a side effect. (I'm thinking 'yes' because thats the only diff thing i am doing & nvr had these prob in past) Ah the joys of womanhood!!! LOLRead More Read Less

The only positive thing I can say is it has kept my skin clear, however I want to eat anything I can get my hands on, my moods have been out of control, and I have been bleeding for over 2 weeks, not to mention 4 break throughs in the last 2 months.

I started taking this after about 2 years on Yasmin, because my periods were unbearable..getting sick, terrible cramps, bad mood, etc. Yaz has worked wonders, compared to what I used to deal with. Sure it has its side effects, but its only one of many options out there.

I started taking Yaz when after 2 years on Yasmine I suddenly started having vicious migraines and stomach pains before my periods. Yaz is awful. I've gained almost 15 pounds in 4 months and eat EVERYTHING I can get my hands on. I have awful acne breakouts now and keep cramps constantly. I never start my period during the 4 day "off" pills and usually end up with about 5 days of heaving bleeding and 4-6 days of dark discharge. I'm always bloated and my fingers and feet stay swollen. The worst part is that it has made my IBS flare up worse than it's been in years. I have no sex drive and feel generally awful. It sounds wonderful on the TV, but I wouldn't suggest it to anyone. I started taking YAZ about 4 months ago. Unlike many of you, I don't have any bleeding at all. Always makes me wonder if I'm pregnant or not. Breasts are always tender and I'm always nauseus.
