The key to this med is PMDD. Go online, track your symptoms, and talk to your doctor after 2 months of solid tracking. If you don't have PMDD, don't take it. I have PMDD & have had GREAT results with it. It took about three months to completely balance my hormones. But since, my mood is better, cramps are better, brest tenderness & swelling is gone, fatigue is gone. Acne was never an issue w...

I took Yaz for 4 months and I HATED it. Its effective in preventing pregnancy but when I was taking it I would have my period one month for like 2-3 weeks and then the next month not have one at all. It went back and forth like that the whole time. I wouldnt reccommend it to anyone unless you dont mind having your period for 2-3 weeks. But i dont think anyone likes their period.

I am taking Yaz for birth control. It's easy to use and effective in proventing pregnancy (at least thus far), but as far as my periods go, i have experienced bleed ingfor an excessive amount of time (usually 2-3 weeks).

I began taking Yaz to control long heavy periods. It has lightened my periods, but I still bleed for a long time even when I take the drug back to back aleviating the off days. It seeems that there's only a total of about a week and a half when I am not bleeding. I hope this gets better on month 3. My doctor told me to try it for 3 months.

Once I started taking Yaz, my period has been going on for 2 weeks, non-stop, plus severe abdominal pain (just like when you have PMS, only now it's EVERY day). I am going to stop taking the pill, it's not worth the pain and discomfort.

I started YAZ 6 weeks ago for treatment of severe endometriosis. I am to take it continuously, skipping the psuedo pills, so I wont have a period. I FINALLY just stopped bleeding yesterday after 24 straight days of having a period, which I started on day 17 of starting the pill. The spotting started out dark brown for about a week then went into the brighter red bleeding for the remainder. I am constantly exhausted and sick to my stomach. I have gained about 10 lbs since starting and my binge eating is out of control. Sometimes it feels as if I am having a heart attack since I get ungodly chest pains. I am actually on WebMD now looking up the side effects because I am having horrendous pain in my lower legs and they are swollen and feel like there is paper mache around them. I talked to my doctor and it is either this or I go through Lupron treatments for my endometriosis and since I have been down that road a few times before, I dont know which option is worse now...Read More Read Less

I'm into my 2nd pack of yaz and i'm not too sure of it yet. 1/2 way thru the 1st and 2nd pack, i started spotting, for about 2weeks. I did not get a period the 1st month on it and have had severe acne breakouts. going to try it for a 3rd month and see what happens.

I have been taking this for severe pelvic pains (had laproscopy and came back with no endometriosis....so as of now am undiagnosed). Decreased pelvic pains slightly during the whole cycle so it is only unbearable during my period (still have to use pain pills). Has shorten periods which makes things much more bearable and decreased PMS dramatically for me!

Well all I can say is that I have not been on Birth Control in 4 years and so far I'm feeling really good about this one. I was moody, periods were coming on twice sometimes three times a month, cried for no reason everyday and worst of all I secluded myself from my family and friends because I was always sick...this was before the pill! Some advise to other out there...ask aout your hormone levels when you have your check-ups with your doctor, it's a great help when your body starts change and not sending you the memo on change.Read More Read Less

I have been taking this medicine for several weeks now as prescribed primarily for PMDD. I feel I have more energy, have a generally better outlook and am actually looking forward to putting this to the test in the next wk when I expect my period . I do not understand how ppl taking this for PMDD say they never had mood swings/crying etc which they started having on YAZ and after stopping it they 'returned' to themselves. Why were they taking it in first place if they never had mood problems to begin with? That is a big reason why PMDD suffers are prescribed this in the first place!? Read More Read Less

I just started taking Yaz when I was diagnosed with ovarian cysts. I am just wondering if the brownish spotting is normal? It isn't bright red blood, it just seems like what comes when your period is about to end only I am in the middle of the pack of pills. I need help! I'm not sure whether or not I need to continue with this

This is supposed to treat symptoms of PMDD, but I experienced SEVERE mood swings for the first time while on this drug. I cried everyday for several hours a day and seriously considered seeking therapy and anti depressants to control my moods. I also had terrible acne breakouts, worse than when I was a teenager. As soon as I went of Yaz, my mood stabilized, my acne cleared up, and I am back to my old self.

It made my PMS worse, and earlier than usual (about 2 weeks into my cycle). While it did clear up my acne & make the periods shorter, I also experienced an increase or onset of anxiety/depression.

Side-effects began about 4 days into my first pack of pills, and include: suicidal thoughts, panic attacks, chest pain, nausea, emotional outbursts (including sitting on the floor screaming and pulling my hair), loss of interest in hobbies, loss of interest in just about everything, extreme desire to harm myself, not to mention the fights between my fiance and i. I contacted my doctor today and she instructed me to stop using the pill at least until we have a chance to meet. IF YOU ARE HAVING EXTREME EMOTIONAL PROBLEMS AFTER HAVING STARTED USE OF THIS PILL, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR. there are many forms of birth control out there, and this one just may not be right for you. Just like it's not right for me!Read More Read Less
