Phrenilin has been very effective in treating my tension headaches. However, my former doctor(s) did not warn me that it could make me appear to be drunk or "high" (slurred speech, unsteady movements, impaired judgment), and this created a terrible situation for me at work, as I was unaware of these side effects (it's difficult to explain, but it's not like drinking -- you can't always tell when i...

I have to eat after I swallow the pills or I become nauseated. Very effective but also very expensive.

You take half of a phrenilin with any hydrocodone pill half as well you hit two receptors in the brain and it will make you feel really good physically and mentally it helps me. with the anit- anxiety med in the phrenilin and the upper in the hydorcodone it is a very nice and easy way to ease pain in all sorts of directions. I like this combination because hydrocodone gives my anxiety.

I prefer this medication above all others based on butalbital. Why? Simply, cadffien, while simple enough will produce its main w/d symptpom ecen after 2 weeks, the caffiene headache. Now, such headaches, while painful, isn't as disabling as the headaches the med is given for. the problem Is adds to the main headaches characterists, as caff w/d is a behind the eyes paon for me. Also, I haven't found a doctor who was under 50 who I didn't have to ask for it, abd who didn't know what it was to begin with. This is with docs treating pituitary adenoma headaches(which have a pain behind the eyes, but a bit more central in sensation, ergo my issue with caff), a speciality you'd expect familiarity wth all options. (Isoill(sp) is a brand not even in their references!) So he has made a note of my plight in my charts and has assured me that his replacement, when he retires soon, will write for phrenilin(forte is only one I was able to get last time). I'm glad for refill reasons it is unscheduled, but in reality, 200mg of phrenilin is exactly like 50mg in terms of sedation. But lacking the euphoria. In this respect its more like amobarbital. Butisol worked well too, back when it was available. Read More Read Less

I have a combination of tension and migraine headaches. After trying topamax, imitrex and all sorts of pain medication with little relief I feel like this mediation has helped me. I don't have any of the side effects like drowsiness or unsteady gait and i works quickly. I can take it at work an never miss a beat. I definately rate it an A+

Phrenilin has been very effective in treating my tension headaches. However, my former doctor(s) did not warn me that it could make me appear to be drunk or "high" (slurred speech, unsteady movements, impaired judgment), and this created a terrible situation for me at work, as I was unaware of these side effects (it's difficult to explain, but it's not like drinking -- you can't always tell when it's affecting you this way.) Also, I was never warned not to take this medicine together with Soma -- in fact, my former doctor wrote a prescription for both on the same prescription slip! Terrible mistake! Now I won't even keep the two medicines in the same drawer. So I would say to use it with caution, but if you use it with caution, it is indeed effective in relieving tension headaches. Another benefit is that it does not contain caffeine, so it can be taken at night or near bedtime if necessary.Read More Read Less

I am allergic to all pain meds except plain Tylenol & this med. This med gives some relief to the tightness & pain in my neck & head when they strike, but does not help other types of pain. It does cause drowsiness & affects my level of alertness so I cannot take it when on the job or have to drive.
