I was given a 6-month injection of Eligard in January of 2021 after receiving Lupron injections (every 3 months)for 16 months. The Eligard caused significantly greater hot flashes and feelings of exhaustion within 2 weeks. These side effects gradually wore off and became equal with Lupron.

I was given the 6-month dose Eligard on 3/7/19. It is now over 7 months since the injection and I'm am still suffering through numerous daily and nightly HOT FLASHES which is not fun.

This drug is absolutely hideous and doctors lie about how bad it will be to get people to use it. My normally even tempered husband swings from rage to anxiety to depression to demented giggling. He has raging hot flashes and brain fog and is extremely tired. Only use as a last resort. I wish the maker accepted victim impact statements from spouses.

I just got my second 6 month 45 mg Eligard shot and it wiped me out but hopefully for just today. The previous 6 months have seen my PSA drop from 140 to 0.2 and my bone scans show dramatic improvement so I'm not going to complain about some sweats and fatigue. Being retired I can lay down but overall I'm putting in full days doing various jobs. Previously the cancer in my bones was causing unbearable pain. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones using this drug along with ADT pills. I'm thankful!Read More Read Less

My husband has stage 1 prostate ca. Had 1 injection of the 6 month eligard dosage to prepare him for radiation therapy. He has turned into a manic mess. He is having extreme manic mood swings. Very verbal aggression. Cursing, yelling over every little thing. we have been married 52 years and he has NEVER EVER been like this before. His ankles are suddenly swollen so bad that he can hardly stand. The doctors did not in anyway prepare us for this. They told us he might have hot flashes and a decreased libido which he was totally willing to accept....He told me , he had rather die than take another injection. If anyone else has had these severe mood swings I would like to hear how you handled it. THANK YOU FOR LISTENING.Read More Read Less

Given Eligard, returned 6 months later for further treatment and PSA was 182 and spread to bones. It was ineffective and has now going to cost me my life. Please get PSAs during this waiting period...

Eligard administered May of 2019, 10 months ago, prior to 9 week (45) radiation treatments. Still having intermittent hot flashes at night and at times during day. Did not know this would continue after the 6 month period. Apparently not uncommon. Hope it ends one of these days.

Hot flashes several times a day have been frustrating for months. I received a six month injection in November 2018. Now, in October 2019, eleven months later, I am still having frequent hot flashes and continued dissatisfaction. I realize that these symptoms are only "annoying" compared to the consequences of aggressive prostate cancer, I am still angered by the persistence of this drub.
