Eric Yabu, DDS, is a general dentist in Oakland, Calif., where he has shared a practice with his wife, Geraldine Lim, DDS, since 1996.
As team dentist for the University of California, Berkeley, Sports Medicine Program, Yabu is responsible for the fabrication of custom mouth guards for the athletes, as well as conducting pre-participation exams and providing emergency care for athletes during and after games. Yabu is an assistant clinical professor at the University of California, San Francisco, where he has introduced a course on sports dentistry and dental trauma management. With this course, he has set up a partnership between UCSF and UC Berkeley that allows dental students to assist in both the fabrication of mouth guards for student-athletes and pre-participation exams.
A graduate of UC Berkeley and the UCSF School of Dentistry, Yabu is a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, American Academy of Implant Dentistry, and Academy of Sports Dentistry.
