How do objects get stuck in the rectum?

ANSWER

The majority of objects found in the rectum have been inserted through the anus. But sometimes a person may swallow a foreign body, which passes through the digestive tract, and eventually gets stuck in the rectum.

Common examples include:

  • Fruits and vegetables
  • Bottles
  • Candles
  • Objects designed to be placed in the anus (such as vibrators or dildos)
