ANSWER

There are three major drugs commonly used to treat genital herpes symptoms: acyclovir (Zovirax), famciclovir (Famvir), and valacyclovir (Valtrex). These are all taken in pill form. Doctors treat severe cases with the intravenous (IV) drug acyclovir.
