Gina Kolata

Gina Kolata is a science reporter for The New York Times and the author of four books including Ultimate Fitness: The Quest for Truth About Exercise and Health. In Ultimate Fitness, she takes a fascinating journey into the fads, fictions, and genuine innovations that have defined the world of physical fitness.

Kolata earned her bachelor's degree in microbiology and her master's degree in applied mathematics from the University of Maryland. She studied molecular biology at MIT in a PhD program from 1969 to 1971, but left to pursue her writing career. She lives in Princeton, N.J.
