Gordon Blackburn, PhD

Gordon Blackburn, PhD, is program director of cardiac rehabilitation and prevention in the department of cardiovascular medicine at The Cleveland Clinic.  Born in Canada, he received his doctoral training at Pennsylvania State University.

During his career, he has established and directed cardiac rehabilitation and prevention programs in Canada and the U.S.  He is a certified preventive and rehabilitative program director of the American College of Sports Medicine.  In addition he is co-founder and former president of the Ohio Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Association, has served as board member and treasurer of American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, and led the Clinical Certification Committee of the American College of Sports Medicine.

Blackburn has published extensively and presented internationally on the role of exercise as both a primary and secondary risk management strategy for heart disease.
