Gordon Skinner, MD, DSc, FRCOG, FRCPath

Gordon Skinner, MD, DSc, FRCOG, FRCPath, has spent more than 20 years in teaching and research at the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom. He is perhaps best known for his work on the herpes simplex virus, having developed a vaccine against infection that has undergone a successful phase 3 therapeutic trial in the United States. In addition to the vaccine against AIDS, which is currently proceeding to product license under a collaborative agreement with the Russia AIDS Center in Moscow, he has also developed a vaccine against staphylococcal infection in patients undergoing joint replacement or continuous peritoneal dialysis.
