Under the Affordable Care Act, are 3D mammograms free?

ANSWER

3D mammograms are not free under the Affordable Care Act. If you choose to have a 3D mammogram or your doctor recommends one, your health plan can charge you an extra fee. 3D mammograms are sometimes recommended for women with dense breast tissue.
