Co-op plan

Known mainly as co-op plans, these consumer-run health plans were set up under the Affordable Care Act that can be purchased through the Marketplace. Co-ops are non-profit and offer another choice if you are looking for health insurance. If a co-op makes a profit, that money has to go toward reducing your monthly fee or improving your coverage. Co-ops must meet the same standards as other licensed health plans in your state. Co-op plans are offered only in a limited number of Marketplaces.
