Enrollment is the process of joining or "buying" a health plan, which you do during a time period called open enrollment. Once you are enrolled, you will generally only be able to change your health plan once a year, during open enrollment. You may be able to make changes to your health plan at other times of the year if you have a major life event, such as getting married, adding a child to your family, or losing a job or starting a new one.
