PPACA stands for the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. This is one of two pieces of legislation that make up the health care reform law. The other piece of the law is the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act or HCERA.
The goals of the PPACA are to ensure more people have health insurance, reduce the cost of health care, and improve how patients get care. The final modified version of the law is referred to simply as the Affordable Care Actor "Obamacare."
