What should I consider if I have hepatitis?

ANSWER

If your hepatitis, either viral or nonviral, is in the acute stage (happened within the last 6 months), avoid alcoholic beverages. Your body's efforts to process alcohol puts more strain on your already injured liver.

Your sexual partners run the risk of getting the disease, especially if you have hepatitis B. Hepatitis C is difficult to pass on through sexual contact, unless there is blood-to-blood contact.

Most adults recover completely from acute hepatitis A and B within 6 months..
